A few days ago they were fixing something on a tank in the back yard of the house and they were working until the evening so I took advantage and went out since I never go out in the yard at night and while I was there I noticed the presence of this grasshopper which I thought was strange since I thought grasshoppers hid at night and the crickets came out.
As I was watching it I was thinking that these insects are smarter than many others since a mountain hopper like this one has never entered the house at night so they are not so dumb as to get carried away by the lights in the house as most nocturnal insects do when they headbutt the light bulbs or the TV set.
As you can see this grasshopper is just growing, it has not yet reached its adult stage, but analyzing better its behavior I think you are right because during the day it is in more danger, because there are many birds that can devour it.
To check that it was not attracted to the light, I brought the flashlight close to it and unlike other insects it remained still and when it had the opportunity it tried to move away, while the other insects fluttered around the light. I say goodbye and wish you a happy evening.

Espero hayan disfrutado de este fin de semana al igual que lo hice yo. Hace unos días estaban arreglando algo de un tanque en el patio trasero de la casa y estuvieron trabajando hasta la noche así que aproveche y salí ya que nunca salgo al patio de noche y mientras estaba allí note la presencia de este salta montes lo que me pareció extraño ya que yo creía los saltamontes se escondían de noche y salían los grillos.
Mientras lo observaba estuve pensando que estos insectos son más inteligente que muchos otros ya que un salta montes como este nunca ha entrado a la casa de noche por lo que no son tan bobos como para dejarse llevar por las luces de la casa como pasa con la mayoría de los insectos nocturnos que van a darse de cabezazos con los focos o con el televisor.
Como pueden fijarse este saltamontes apena va creciendo, todavía no ha llegado a su etapa adulta, pero analizando mejor su comportamiento creo que tiene razón ya que de día corre más peligro, porque hay muchas aves que lo pueden devorar.
Para comprobar que no le atrae la luz le acerque la linterna y a diferencia de otros insectos se quedó inmóvil y cuando tuvo la oportunidad intento alejarse en cambio los otros insectos revoloteaban alrededor de la luz. Me despido deseándoles una feliz noche.
