The Sun in Virgo
The Sun moves into Virgo tonight -- around 10 PM (Mountain Time) -- Wednesday, August 22, 2018. (4 AM Thursday, August 23, UTC.) So look for a change in the general mood over the next few days, from Leo's playful creativity to Virgo's no-nonsense practicality.
In other words, it's time to go to work. Virgo is an exacting, industrious energy that keeps the wheels of life turning by tending to all the trivial but necessary chores that make life happen.
It may lack Leo's popular appeal, but without it, life's routines fall apart and just getting through the day becomes a slogging, frustrating mess. I may diss on Virgo a lot, but its contributions to the quality of all life have value beyond words.
Virgo energy may not be fancy,
but it knows how to get the job done.

The Virgo Personality
The Virgo spirit is logical, efficient, organized and dedicated to selfless service. If you were born under the Virgo Sun, your personality is meticulous and exacting. You are a perfectionist ... detail-conscious and discerning -- concerned with the work you do in the world. This is almost always some form of service and selfless effort extended for the benefit of others.
You are painstaking and fussy. The little things count with you. You know what it takes to turn a mundane effort into a masterpiece -- and you aim for that level of excellence every single time.
Virgo's colors are neutral and unimposing,
brown, tan, beige, gray, earth tones.

You are often taken for granted.
You are supportive and conscientious -- and you don't ask for a lot in return, sometimes not even thanks, recognition or credit. Unfortunately, this springs from an inborn inferiority complex you may struggle with all your life.
You can easily overextend and overwork yourself in your efforts to do for others. And another reason you may not get as much notice or appreciation as you deserve is because the work you do often involves little favors to make the lives of those who are important to you easier.
It takes the form of daily routines and mundane tasks like housekeeping chores, errands, support services, etc., the kind of work that keeps life running smoothly, but which doesn't get noticed unless it doesn't get done.
Virgo's values are modest and serviceable.

You concentrate on everyday things.
Because this work is not much fun, others are perfectly happy to pass it along to you, and then take it for granted, because you are so dependable at meeting your responsibilities.
The trouble is, the work you do then kind of fades into the background in the lives of the very people who benefit from your efforts, and unfortunately, you are likely to get overlooked as well.
You are always doing some kind of work.
You turn in an efficient, even brilliant performance of routine responsibilities and mundane tasks, whether or not the work you do actually results in money in your bank account. When you are at work, no detail is too small to slip past your critical, perfectionist's eye nor any flaw too small not to need correction.
You are a workaholic who likes to bring order out of confusion, but you can become so engrossed with trivialities that you are blinded to the significance of the larger whole. You actually feel most alive when you are involved in some kind of serious, hard work.
Taking care of business is Virgo's way of life.
You can also lose sight of the forest while looking at the trees, but you plod on, taking care of business with amazing fortitude and patience. You have a high regard for order and routine. You want things done just so. And your inclination to constantly fuss and fret can drive other people crazy.
This is, in fact, a picky, fastidious, critical energy combination. You call it being "particular" and "doing the job right." The people around you may have different descriptions of it, some kindly ... some not.
You are the Zodiac's most analytical sign.
You are analytical, logical, organized, discriminating and critical. You seek very detailed knowledge regarding the things you do, the things you give your attention to.
You catalog and concentrate this knowledge into some sort of structure that then has practical application. When you are being completely true to yourself, you are efficient, concentrated, even obsessively engrossed in what occupies your attention at the moment.
You need to love yourself more ...
You are extremely selfless, shy and emotionally contained, even in close partnerships. There is not a lot of romantic energy or interest at your disposal. You express love and intimacy in other ways, namely through the work you do and by being there for the others in your life.
You may find it difficult to communicate and articulate your inner thoughts and feelings, but you like to be noticed and complimented for the small, valuable services you perform for your loved ones, even though you can be painfully stingy about dispensing compliments to others yourself.
When you complain about how you need more love in your life, the actual fact is, you yourself need to be more loving. That includes being more loving to yourself, too.
... and care for yourself the way you do others.
You also take it upon yourself to be concerned with health issues and the health of others who are important to you. Your particular kind of nervous tension and inclination to overwork often manifests itself in physical problems, and in your fashion you assume these things will eventually show up in everyone you know and will need to be attended to.
You would say that only seems logical. But your unusual focus here can turn into hypochondria, and the strong mental energy you have at your disposal can eventually create these very health problems you're afraid of where none existed before. You might need to have a stronger respect for the mind's creative power.

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.
Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.
If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.
One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.
Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.
Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.
About the art in our visual essays ...
Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.
The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.
Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.
So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.
The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.
