Not many of you may know that I have some health issues, it's my back to be more precise. It's not a big deal but I have to be careful because it can make my life a living hell at times. About a month ago I made a wrong move and the pain was so severe I almost fell and had to shout for help as I couldn't move, let alone stand up properly and walk. I used an office chair with wheels to move around for about an hour and after the pain settled down I used a walking stick. Before you jump to conclusions my dad left the walking stick for me as a joke and I don't need it.
Later on I was having a chat with a good friend of mine asked me how my day was. I told him of my back problems and that I was sitting in an office chair. He wanted to send me some wheelchair emoji, but couldn't find any.
Good news! Inclusive New Emoji Include Prosthetic Arms and Legs from The Unicode Consortium which will be used by Apple, Google, and other tech vendors. In other words, very soon I'll be able to illustrate my status (sitting in a wheelchair) with a nice emoji, like you see in the banner above.
Lucky me, there's a woman with a walking stick I can use! Although when you rely on a walking stick you don't use it like that but it's ok, let's not be so fussy. Wait, that's not a walking stick, that's a stick for blind people. Oh, in this case I have to contact them and ask to create one for me :)
Ok guys, this can be funny if used correctly, but can also be a bad joke. I hope people are going to use it with caution. Let's not forget that living with any disability is not fun at all!
