Faver turned around. There in his living room was the rat.
Except it wasn't just the rat.
The creature was morphing from the rat to the strange old man who had followed him home to a young boy holding a teddy bear by one arm.
"What..." Faver said, staggering. He held onto the door frame for support. He was definitely losing his mind.
The rat-man-boy was strange, pixelated almost as though it was a hologram generated by a computer. Faver stared at it.
"My name is Personal Responsibility," the rat-man-boy said. "Trot!"
Faver blinked. He was going mad. It was official. He made a run for it, past the strange holographic vision and up the stairs to his bedroom. He slammed the door closed behind him and fought an overwhelming desire to jump into bed, pull the blankets over his head and rock like a demented rocking horse.
Instead, he went over to the window. There was a strange pulsating light shining through it. Outside a vehicle was sitting in the street. It was unlike any Faver had seen before.

I had a comment left on one of my freewrites and I have to say, it made my day!
“Hey I got the book and want to tell you how much I enjoyed your story! Loved the twist at the end… you somehow nearly always manage to produce an unexpected twist... Love the care you take with your characters, intertwining them.”
Voices In The Darkness is now ALSO available as a paperback!
If you want a taster of what is in the book, the video below shows me reading the first 900 words, or so, of my story, The Tell-Tale Dead
