After yesterday's lil' scare I felt it's time to start moving towards a healthier lifestyle. But it's not easy because I'm a foodie. I'm not big on junk food but if you are a Mangalorean or live in Mangalore, India.
It's not easy to resist eating the amazing cuisine here day and night, especially if you're a total foodie like me.
While the chest pain continues to plague me for the 2nd day, I'm feeling more upbeat about things to come. While I was out running errands I decided to get a BCA test done. My friend had done it recently and recommended me a good place to do it in my city.
BCA stands for Body Composition Analysis and it involves a series of tests to measure the ratio of different tissues that our bodies are currently made up of. These tests can be an eye-opening experience because they reveal the following: the ratio of fat to lean muscle tissue., the percentage of water in the body, the metabolic rate (BMR) and BMI. When do the results start to show up? When muscle tissue increases through proper exercise and nutrition, all of these numbers change! This is exciting for us because it shows our clients that their focus on making changes is really worth the effort.-Intentio
My body fat percentage has increased a lot in the recent time. I'm in need of a healthier diet and proper exercise once I'm feeling better. I wasn't shocked with the results but I wasn't happy about it either. It doesn't matter how I feel because it was important to get this assessment done so I can figure out the way forward.
I'm meeting my former fitness trainer next week and figure out a diet and work out plan. I used to work out regularly until early 2017 but the accident changed a lot. However, now I am in a position resume some of it again.
I'm also very keen on Cycling, Yoga and some weights as well but will finalise it over the next week. But the upcoming trip to EU is going to push me off my plan but the great thing about EU is that I end up walking several kms/miles in a day as I tend to explore places on foot.
I've lost some weight during Steemfest in the past because there's so much to do and I'm always on my feet. So all of this works out in my favour with respect to health!
In the past year I've gained 16 kgs of weight and about half of it was gained in the past 4 months alone after the 4th and final surgery which was performed on my leg in April in year. So, I have a lot excess weight that I need to shed which I've gained from a sedentary lifestyle. I'm weighing in at 86.50 kgs or 190 lbs and a year ago I was at 70 kgs.
In addition to fitting into your old clothes, regular exercise makes you feel great. So let's see what the next week brings. I still haven't healed from the fall down the stairs from a week ago + yesterday's health scare has pushed forward my timelines but I'm setting goals for the year ahead so my travels in the interim shouldn't affect this too much.
The important thing is that we cannot and shouldn't ignore our health and an active lifestyle with exercise thrown is only good for us. There's no need to do this only to click selfies for Instagram but we need to this to live longer and healthier.
Fitness experts here feel free to throw in some advise on work outs or meal plans. Previously, I've engaged in a lot of functional fitness workouts with plenty of Muay Thai thrown in. But no more martial arts henceforth. Everything else should be okay though.
