Do you sometimes like the right stuff needed to continue on with the things you want to get done?
I am not talking about chores and work. I am talking about that one fun project you never got to finish and find it hard to get back to it. I'm talking about that painting you never finished, that story, that knitted blanket or that new stylish makeup you've been wanting to try.
Has it happened to you where you just find that lack of motivation to do anything and you get stuck in that rut for days. And what seems like only days, the week has gone by and another and another and keeps on going without you noticing? The days get gloomier and you take less care of yourself. Looking outside and think how much comfier that couch is and how you've been wanting to finish that awesome show on Netflix, binge watching to see how it ends.
It gets harder to get out of it, harder to climb that mountain and for whatever reason that may be lingering in the back your mind the will to just get out there is harder and it becomes so much easier to forget about the outside world.
And sometimes we want to get out there so bad! And we try hard and we do good but then something happens and we fall back and forget about everything once more.
This post has been something I wanted to write about for quite some time now but I was never ready to put it out there. But with some help and talking to a good friend of mine, , I was able to crush the wall that was blocking my way and start this new thing that I have been wanting to try.
How it starts
It's starts by craving that change. Seeing yourself through the eyes of others and noticing how things have changed for the worst and not wanting it anymore. The need to finally be able to breathe in the good and exhale the bad, getting rid of it for good. But the need has to come from within. From within your gut and in your heart as good intentions doesn't always flourish. You need to want to take action.
What you need
You need to have respect and love for yourself. You need to see yourself yesterday, now and tomorrow. How you were and where you want to be, what you want to achieve.
You need the people. Surrounding yourself with the awesome people. The ones that are upbeat, positive, kind and ready to be there for you. The ones that will not hold on to the back of your shirt but rather hold your hand and help you up that mountain. That is your cheerleading squad.
The music. You need to face the music and listen to the right ones. Not the sappy keep, keep you thinking of the bad music. You need the music that gets you moving, get that foot tapping, your voice humming.
What you will do
Write about it. Write about everything! Write about the mess, the emotions, the gross and disgusting. The good and the bad. Being true to yourself is key and by being as open as can be about it the better you will feel. You will be able to read back on it and laugh. Laugh with others. Laughter brings on better moods and better moods means moving forward.
Set a small goal for starts. Too big of a goal is not seeable. We will become less motivated to do it if it's too hard to see and do. Short term goals mean that we can do more. Leave the big goals for when you become the champion of yourself.
Once you finish your small goal you will feel good about yourself and will bring on more encouragement and happiness. Set another small goal and finish that one. Keep doing that until you feel from within that you are able to add a tiny bit more, whether it be an extra 5 min, an extra day, another page, another color.
Rewards
Nothing smells sweeter than that sweet, sweet reward at the end. Working hard and achieving your goal is an awesome deal, but let's sweeten that deal to make you want it more. Once your goal is done, make an appointment to get your nails done or your hair, or buy yourself a watch or go to the movies. By yourself a kitten. For every goal set something up for yourself that would be an awesome reward. But set it up after the goal is done, for if the appointment is made before it is far too easy to quit, thinking - well the appointment is already made. Might as well go and not waste it.
And then right about how you felt when you do it. Get your reward, do the thing, write about how great you feel and set up your next goal!
The experiment
I haven't asked anyone to try this. This is something I have wanted for myself and just never did it. I don't even have a good true reason why I didn't.
My problem? I stopped taking care of myself completely. Today I am tired of fighting for things that don't mean anything and I want to fight for myself.
What do I want? I want to lose weight. I want a proper routine ( and I really hate routines) and I want to feel good about myself, giving myself worth in my eyes and be physically and mentally in shape. I want that proper strength.
But to do all this I need your help.
What I am missing is the daily encouragement by all the right people. I am finding myself to be on Steemit everyday. This is where I see people. And with the people I will see motivation that I am lacking to continue on passed week 1.
What I want from you? Your motivation. It can be .... Foxy today I want you to do 5 pushups. After those 5 pushups I will send you a foxy picture. Or Foxy today is your day to take 5 minutes to yourself, you deserve it. Spend it wisely cause you may never take back those 5 minutes.
Anything to get me going.
I will follow these steps written above. And when I can (with Steemit being so low atm) I will reward you in return. I will upvote your comment - only 0.01 which isn't enough to reward you kind people but as Steemit rises, so will my vote. And to the one that gave me the best motivation of the week, I will reward with some SBD. This is an ongoing thing.
I need you all as a community to help me through this and when this experiment proves to work, I will start this initiative with other people that want the same thing. I will be part of that motivation for the next person, and the next and the next and maybe even you.
So what do you say? Shall we be a team?
