introduced me to this wonderful platform. She talked so much about Hive, Hive this, Hive that, and every time I called her she was busy on Hive, I became so interested in Hive even before I came on board, I couldn’t wait to get in. Then I decided to sign up on Hive, and here my struggle began, I wasn’t able to, due to some technicalities, I tried and tried for weeks, but it wasn’t happening, but finally we were able to find a way around it.
When told me I would have to write an introductory post I just knew there was no running away from it, I said to myself Sis, you just have to do it Lol.
I am Elfreda Tamunokuro, many persons I meet initially find it difficult to pronounce my name hence some resorted to calling me Freda, hence the username😉 I have had so many occasions where I was called weird names in a bid to call my name 😂
This part of my life is called growing up. I'm the first child out of four children, I have 2 sisters and a brother. It can be a whole lot of work assuming this position, but I wouldn't have it any other way. We lost our mum at quite a tender age, so it was just us, my dad, my aunt, and her daughter (ps: my aunt assumed the role of a mother).
I can't finish this piece without having to talk about my personality, oh boy what kind of introduction would that be?
So, this part of my life is called ME. I like to describe myself as a very observant introvert. I like my own space most times, but I wouldn't mind having people like friends and family around from time to time 😀 I may seem quiet for someone who doesn't know me, meeting me for the first time, or isn't familiar with me, but I'm quite a chatterbox when I get comfortable with you.
I love celebrations a lot, from weddings to child dedications, to birthday parties, it might not really be an elaborate gathering, I'm ok having just a small group consisting of my friends and family.
I had my preschool, middle school high school,l and even college in a city known as Port Harcourt in Nigeria, that was basically my place of birth, so all my life I had been there, except for one time I had to go to another state (Oyo) during my college days because I was writing my thesis before graduation, so I had to carry out some analysis there.
As I earlier said I went to college in my home city, the prestigious University of Port Harcourt. In Nigeria where I come from, every graduate is meant to undergo a compulsory 1year National Youth Service. During this period, you are sent to a random state by the government to serve your fatherland. National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) was established by the Nigerian Government to solely integrate people from different ethnic groups.
During this period, we're usually given a stipend to sustain us, if you're lucky and you're posted to a good organization that pays you, good for you. If that is not the case, you make do with what you get from the government.
So, I was posted to a state far North, while I was a Southerner, oh boy, it was really a huge change for me, seeing as I had not left my state or region before. But I was able to go and serve.7months into my service year, COVID-19 struck and everyone was encouraged to go back home, but I didn’t want to go back home cos I felt like I had just a few months left to round up, and going home was such a distance, so I decided to stay back. But when I saw that the pandemic was getting worse instead of reducing as I earlier thought it would, I began looking for a way to go home, but by this time, restrictions to movement were becoming tight, so I just went to my aunt’s house which was a bit closer to where I was. I had to stay there until it got to the time of my passing out (that’s what we call the ceremony that is done at the end of your service year).
After this episode of my life, I went back home and then the search for a job started. While growing up, the mantra was to go to school, get good grades and afterward get a good job, but it was way more than that.
Since I couldn’t get a good job yet, I picked up a job as a high school teacher, taught there for a while, and had to resign afterward, cos I was barely getting enough to get by. I again started actively searching for a job, during this period, I had to learn a skill, I went into the fashion world which was not easy but my family stood by me, they were my first clients😂😂I sold internet data bundles, I became a lowkey social media manager for a friend’s business, all in a bid to get by, until I finally landed my present job.
Well, I was only going to do a brief intro, but I’ve ended up almost telling my life’s history, but it was nice writing this, I look forward to meeting new and loving people on this space and you could start by saying Hi in the comment section 🥰🥰so until next time, bye….
I Love You all.....
