Currently watching my third game of the weekend! One more than was planned. This game is from the team of the youngest. It was an early Sunday because they had to be at the club at 9 AM. Normally it is around 10.30AM. So a huge difference.
Saterday
Started the day with bringing paper and some broken devices to the recycling park. In the mean team arranging a ride with another dad to the game of the oldest. They had an away game, an hour drive away. Normally both me and misses do go, but during the exam period it was better one to stay at home for the youngest.
The great thing about riding with someone is that you do have a designated driver. And believe me in the football canteens lots of beer is consumed. If I do drive, it is only one beer and for the rest cola and coffee (great combination I know).
After arriving we still need to wait more then an hour to see the kickoff!
Normally 2 or 3 players of his team do need to stop earlier because they have to go back to the home club to heat the bench for the second squad team. That is a huge deal because at that squad money is involved. 60€ for a win, 30€ for a draw. So far, the oldest hasn’t been selected. No idea why because lesser players (opinion of a dad 🤔) have been selected. He is asking himself why he doesn’t get that chance.
So during the game in the 60th minute 3 players were sub and left back to the home club. Apparently the oldest already knew them that he had to play the 90 minutes and then chase back to the home club to arrive just for the game starts.
So after the game he rushed out of the dressing room to tell me that. Small problem we weren’t there by our home. Luckily one other dad has to chase back home also so he did drop us off.
They drawed, so he cashed 30€, but didn’t play a second.
We left home at 1 PM and got back at 9 PM. I had one coffee I believe and the rest you can imagine.
So looking forward to a more relaxing Sunday after this game. Cleaning the house a little bit but mostly watching the drama unfold during the F1 race and look the Genk game.
And maybe, maybe fixe the Christmas tree for outside.
Cheers,
Peter
