I am curious how many of the people reading this are voting for witnesses themselves and how many delegate that job to someone else, via proxies on the Hive's layer one and basic delegation of WORKERBEE tokens on Hive-Engine.
For example, I vote for Hive witnesses myself but only have a couple of WORKERBEE and I don't bother voting for Hive-Engine witnesses myself. In fact, I don't even know many of the Hive-Engine witnesses. But my WORKERBEE, as few as they are, do vote for witnesses on the second layer.
I have them delegated to , who runs a pool for this purpose for at least two years now.
He votes the way he finds suitable for witnesses on Hive-Engine with the tokens delegated to him (although he probably would take suggestions too), and in return, he shares the BEE rewards with all participants in the pool according to their participation. On top of that, he shares an additional incentive in the form of a token of his choice every week, when he distributes the rewards. If you want more details, here's his most recent weekly update.
Now, how did I get here?
Yes! I asked you if you vote for witnesses yourself or not on Hive or Hive-Engine.
And then I answered for my own situation.
And how did I get the idea for this post?
I saw this announcement on Hive-Engine's discord:
Looks like Hive-Engine added witness votes expiration much like Hive has, except on Hive-Engine they expire after 6 months since the last witness vote instead of 1 year since the last governance operation (witness or DHF proposal vote), like on Hive.
If you vote on Hive-Engine witnesses yourself or are also responsible for the votes of others, you should take note of that change, if you didn't already.
