Here I am on the range just prior to a big shooting event beginning. I've been here since about lunch time finishing off the set up we began Friday (and went late into the night). We have shooters arriving now and they'll soon be enjoying a hearty dinner, listening to the shooters brief and then getting their firearms and equipment prepared before getting down to business. See previous post here.

It's been a pretty grey day here in contrast to the 21 degrees and blue skies we had yesterday however it won't affect us too much I think as the rain has died off and whether we have blue skies or not won't matter at night!
I just spoke to a currently serving Army sniper who is competing tonight and he is pretty pumped. I know this guy very well as I've competed against him in long range shooting events and he's a very straight-up guy, usually quiet and reserved, but here he is, grinning and itching to get into it tonight. So good to see that enthusiasm! That's the best part about our event...Professionals like this will compete against law enforcement guys (and girls) plus hunters and general population...It's diverse and bloody awesome fun!
We look forward to a great event full of challenge for the competitors and we've designed a course of fire that will push the limits of speed and accuracy together with problem-solving, tactics and strategy. Some will fail and others will excel however if our previous events are any indication everyone will have a great time.
Anyway, I have to get moving and begin my official duties of organiser, Range Officer and all round friendly dude to help our competitors get the most from the event.
I hope you're all deploying your weekend plans with extreme prejudice because you only have one life and you're in it right now! You might as well make it count! 😎
Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default
The main image is part of the building complex I mentioned in my last post. The walls are made of steel mesh, not bricks of course. Refer back to the last post for details.
Some novelty targets. The target is the white dots above the Jeep. They are about the size of a small watch face.
Some of the targets to be shot under black light. These steel targets glow brightly under that light and must fall to score. There is 17 targets including these round ones in that stage.
This alien runs at 10 metres/second on the rails you see, driven by a motor and will do 4 passes of its 60m length. The shooter engages as many times as possible in a given time frame. The target is about the size of a human hand. At the speed this goes, a shooter will need to lead the target by about 4 inches (shoot ahead of the target as it moves.)
