Hello, dear creative Hivers, I hope you are all having a good day. The holiday season is fast approaching, and I'm sure a lot of us are preparing for the best times, especially with family and friends. What's a good time without family huh?
My neighbour will be travelling soon to with with with family as well, so to prepare early. He asked that I make a simple and beautiful A-line dress for his younger sister, and also a lovely blouse for his mum. It is pure joy when people come to me to make their loved ones a gift of clothing, and I make sure to deliver exceptionally well.
He showed me a picture of his sister and mum, having lots of experiences sewing for different body types makes it easy for me to guess her size, and since it was a simple, straightforward A-line dress, I set to work
Materials Used
soft pattern crepe fabric
Elastic
Matching coloured thread
Cutting And Sewing Process
I started by cutting out the back dress pattern, using an A-line dress pattern, shaping her bust, waist and length of the dress.
Using the back pattern, I traced and cut out the front pattern, making the neckline deep and round
Then I joined the front and back by the shoulder area
Using a strip of fabric, I turned in the neckline of the dress neatly
- Then proceeded to cut out the sleeve pattern
I used the elastic band to gather a few inches above the base of the sleeve
Then sewed them around both armhole areas
I also sewed the sides of the dress
Finally hemming it round neatly.
And that completes the making process of this elegant and modest A-line dress.
I'm sure his sister would appreciate his thoughtful gift.
