Thursday morning the sunrise was glorious, and the camera actually captured it!
I never woke up until 6AM, so was running late. I’d wanted to work on bills and budget, something I had started on Wednesday. Tuesday I cleaned up the mess from Christmas and did laundry. Boring week of playing catch-up and recovery.
On Thursday my general helper was coming and I had a lot of errands to run. We got those done by 10:30 and started getting some of the things done I needed help with, like getting the dining room table back to size and the chairs in the attic.
I had taken down my sister’s framed photograph of the pasture behind the old house I grew up in. I hung the new framed tapestry from my friend in its place. But I did want to hang it up somewhere.
After wandering the first floor and thinking about different ideas, I finally hit on moving the oil lamp to the other side of the archway and putting the photo over the mirror. So we got that done.
The mirror chair had been moved for the stove and I’d noticed it needed tightened up to keep the mirror safe, so we got that done too.
For the last year the clean room had become the catchall room. Everything I didn’t have time or energy to deal with got dumped in here. Where the stove is now, the island had been and it had been piled high. All that mess was just shifted elsewhere in here when I had to move it out.
We got the stove cleaned off and then I was bothered by the fact the burners wouldn’t line up with the grill. We shifted the drip trays around but that didn’t help. I measured the distances, and it got me wondering if the top had been put on backward when it was shipped.
We took it off and turned it, and voila! Everything fit! So we pushed the stove out into the hallway as much of the mess had a place in the shelving beside it. Once it was off the standing mat by the sink, it was obvious that another screw or support or something was missing, on the right side this time. But I wanted to clean up the mess more than I wanted to fix the stove, so we left it.
A lot of the stuff in this room needed cleaning before being put away, so my helper started washing stuff up. I took piles of stuff and started putting it away where it belonged. Some containers were too small for the additions so I had to find bigger ones, or another one.
We made pretty good progress on this room before she had to go. She will be back on Friday and we need to do some other shopping I forgot and will continue the clean out. My helper friend will be here and I will set him to regular housecleaning.
I’m hoping by spring the whole house will have been thoroughly cleaned, as it won’t get much once the season starts.
