Hello Worldmappin friends!
In this post, I'm taking you along with me to the island of Dalma, a place that surprised me, moved me, and reminded me why I love wandering off the beaten path. Let’s keep following sunsets, collect memories, and map the world together.
Sometimes, all we need is a little peace. A break from the buzzing streets and a return to the raw beauty of nature. That’s exactly what my husband and I wanted when we filled our bags and set out for a beach camping trip in Dalma Island which is located in Abu Dhabi.
We rode a ferry from the mainland, and as the boat approached Dalma, we were struck by how quiet it seemed. It was a peaceful kind of quiet. We could feel a different kind of energy in the air, which makes you pause, slow down, breathe deeply, and grasp simplicity.
Instead of going directly to a specific destination, we roamed around at first. That’s how we like to start our trips by allowing the place to speak to us before we chill out. We were absolutely amazed by the long beach of the island. The beaches stretched far and wide, untouched and clean. Meeting the calm, clear waters created a breathtaking scene. We felt like explorers arriving in a forgotten land. There was no rush. No pressure. Just time and space.
As we go further, we saw windmills standing tall in the open field. Its large blades turned slowly with the wind that added to the tranquil feeling of the place. We stopped to take some shots of the windmills and stood there for a while. There was a canopy with a table and two wooden chairs beneath. A good spot to relax with a view of the beach. We enjoyed the quiet moment.
As we continued to roam, I saw a small mountain in the distance. It wasn’t very tall, but it had a quiet look that projected against the soft blue sky. I got my phone and snapped a photo, wanted to keep that simple and lovely view with me. I observed there were only a few cars on the road and I didn't saw people around. It felt as if we had invaded a secret place. Far detached from the responsibilities of our daily lives.
We went back to the beach camping area to look for a place to stay for the night. We found a good spot for our tent close to the mangroves, facing the beach. We set up our tent, secured it properly. My husband makes some coffee while enjoying the view. Then he started preparing his fishing gear, carefully setting everything up with quiet focus. He stood by the shore, threw his line again and again, hoping for a bite. But even after waiting patiently, there was no catch. He was not disappointed. The quiet time by the sea was more than enough.
As the sun began to drop, the island shone with a soft golden light. My husband and I sat back and watched it slowly get down to the horizon. Soft music played adding to the relaxing mood. Just held in the view and allowed the calmness of the place to wrap us.
As the sky turned darker, I started to feel a bit anxious. A little too quiet, with no other campers around. Just the two of us on the empty beach. I couldn’t help to feel a little worried. But my husband stayed calm and gently reminded me that we were safe. And we had picked a good spot. His words and steady presence helped ease my mind. I began to settle into the stillness of the night. We played music a little bit upbeat while grilling our dinner. No cellphones, just laughter, grilled food, and the contentment of each other’s company. And a moment to reunite with nature.
We saw a golden light shining in the sky. It slowly spread, like it was blooming above us. Tiny stars began to show, shining like little dots of light. The sky looked so calm and beautiful. We couldn’t help but watched in silence. A moment that made us feel close to nature.
My husband and I woke up early. We walk around while waiting for the sunrise. The breeze was cool, and everything around us was calm. As we walked along, enjoying the moment while the world was still slowly waking up.
The sun was up, and I just couldn’t ignore taking a photo. The light was warm and bright, making everything look so calm and beautiful. I held my phone and took a few shots while smiling, enjoying the fresh air and peaceful view. We had an early breakfast, enjoying the last quiet flash by the beach. After eating, we began to pack our things, making sure everything was in order. We cleaned up our spot and carefully loaded our bags into the car. We departed early and headed to the port on time.
Dalma Island had gifted us something rare. Time without noise. Presence without pressure.
