Manali is approximately 500 km from Delhi NCR, so whichever is your place to start, the journey will be amazing. The distance from Gurgaon to Manali is around 532 km, which can be covered in 10 hours by road.
You will follow NH44 and NH154 passing through cities and towns like Panipat, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Chandigarh, Bilaspur and Mandi. The roads are well-maintained and smooth, with plenty of opportunities to stop and stretch your legs along the way. The first few hours are spent on NH44, passing through the industrial cities of Panipat and Ambala.
As you leave Chandigarh behind, the scenery starts to get more beautiful as you head towards the hills in Bilaspur and Mandi. You can expect a few breathtaking spots to take breaks and get some fresh air. You will find facilities and services at regular intervals.
If you want to mix things up a bit, you can take NH3 before merging with the main NH44 near Ambala. That is a less common route, but still a good one.
