Dispensationalism: That before Jesus died people were justified by the deeds of the law. And not by faith alone. And that after Jesus's death justification came by faith alone and not the deeds of the law.
There is no man who has ever kept the law.... For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. Romans 3
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
This is present tense... Meaning this is all before Jesus's death, this is while John was still preaching. In fact 3 years before Jesus died
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
Hath is has - Present tense. Jesus is preaching to a big group here...
John 6:45 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
Hath is present tense.
This is not a different path to salvation than we have today.
But according to them; before Jesus died people were justified by the deeds of the law.
Now they might say that before our dispensation there was no security of the believer. So how did Solomon get to heaven? He wrote 3 books of the bible: Proverbs; Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon. The bible says that holy men spoke as they where moved. And God says that all the prophets will be in heaven including Solomon.
He even married strange wives and at the end of his life he was worshiping their false gods. And he built altars unto them. How did he go to heaven then. What about Saul and David? David was a murderer.
John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
It has always been by calling on the lord. In the old testament after the burning bush they called him Jehovah. We call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved. But it is still the same as calling upon the name of the Lord and thou shalt be saved.
- Promises to Abraham and his Seed.
Gen 21:12 for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
Gen 26:3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father
4: And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed
Gen 28:4 And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham
New versions change seed to descendants/offspring. Because promise is to the seed. This came from the Schofield reverence bible.
Who is the seed? Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
The seed is Christ not physical descendants.
Jesus is the promise of everlasting life not the physical jews.
