Hello Splinterlands community, The challenge for this week is to bring destruction and mayhem to the battlefield using the magic damage coming from the Magi of Chaos which is part of the Chaos Legion Set.
About Magi of Chaos
Magi of Chaos is a neutral magic damage epic unit which is part of the Chaos Legion set. The regular foil card is currently $1.630 in the market while the Gold Foil Card is around $9.60 on the market as of this writing. The price for this card is quite reasonable since it deals 2 magic damage and has a decent amount of health, this card is also a neutral unit which makes it more accessible during ranked battles.
The figure above shows the complete statistics of the card from Level 1 up to Level 6. Since it is an epic monster it would be more costly to leveled up this card but there are still a lot of Chaos Legion Packs available in the game so that is another option to collect this card. On my perspective leveling up this card to Level 3 would be nice to be able to deal 3 magic damage to opponents.
My Battle
This is the ranked battle I want to share where I used my Magi of Chaos to win this ranked battle, you can also watch this match by clicking the link below.

The Ruleset
Earthquake
There are two ruleset for this battle, first is earthquake. This rule causes all non-flying monsters to take 2 melee damage at the end of each round. This rule is quite problematic for me so I used Kelya Frendul and Venari Wavesmith to enforce my units with decent amount of armor to absorb the earthquake damage.
Explosive Weaponry
The other ruleset for this match is Explosive Weaponry. It gives all the monster on the battlefield the blast ability. The blast ability causes additional damage to the adjacent monster of the target monster. This is one of my favorite ruleset since it brings total chaos in the battlefield.
My Lineup
Summoner: Kelya Frendul
I used Kelya Frendul as my summoner for this battle. It gives my team with +1 Armor and +1 Speed. This summoner is a good choice to used especially for battles with Earthquake ruleset and there are a lot of water units that utilizes well the buff coming from this summoner .
Monster 1 : Torrent Fiend
I used my Torrent Fiend for this match and I placed it in the first position. The card doesn't cost any mana and the main purpose of this card is to absorb the initial damage coming from the opponents.
Monster 2 : Djinn Oshannus
This is one of my favorite cards in the game. It is very powerful with its 2 Magic Damage at the same time this unit has a huge amount of health and speed. It benefits a lot from the explosive weaponry ruleset since it's magic damage directly affects the health of the opponent's monsters.
Monster 3 : Venari Wavesmith
I also used my Venari Wavesmith for this battle. It has the Protect ability that gives all my unit 2 armor at the start of the match and with Kelya Frendul as my summoner all my units would now have 3 armor at the start of this match. This card is very useful in battles with earthquake ruleset and it also deals magic damage to opponents.
Monster 4 : Magi of Chaos
I placed my Magi of Chaos at the fourth position so it can deal more magic damage to the opponents as the battle progresses. It has the same amount of magic damage with Djinn Oshannus but it is not much durable compared to the Legendary unit.
Monster 5 : Sea Genie
Lastly I put my Sea Genie in the last position, it also deals 2 magic damage just like Magi of Chaos and Djinn Oshannus. It is the only flying monster I used in this battle which makes this card safe from the effects of the earthquake ruleset.
ROUND 1
During the first round I was able to take down the opponent's Serpent of Eld while my Torrent Fiend was taken down. My Venari Wavesmith barely survives that round while the opponent's Deeplurker is only one magic damage away before being defeated .
ROUND 2
The second round is very chaotic, my Venari Wavesmith was taken down which causes all my monsters to lose the 2 armor buff coming from that unit. On the other hand my opponent gets wipe out by the massive magic damages coming from my Djinn Oshannus, Magi of Chaos and Sea Genie which only leaves my opponent Kulu Swimhunter heading to the next round.
ROUND 3
This round was the finishing touch for this battle. My unit survives the earthquake damage before anything happens and the 2 magic damage from my Oshannus was the one that secures me this victory
Magi of Chaos is a very useful card to utilize in some ranked battles . For this battle I used Magi of Chaos to deal 2 magic damage to opponents and with the Explosive Weaponry ruleset that magic damage was extended to the adjacent enemy monster. The mana and ruleset for this battle fits very well with the lineup I am planning to used. Though we both used Kelya Frendul and Venari Wavesmith to reduce the effects of the Earthquake ruleset, the massive magic damage coming from my team was the difference that secures me this victor. There are other interesting compositions from other elements where Magi of Chaos can be utilize very well and I will share it more on my future posts.
