Hello everyone!
Today, I'm inviting you to follow me on a wonderful journey along Morocco's northern coastal route, from Tangiers to Tetouan. A journey that combines magnificent scenery, sea air and green mountains ....
The journey began in the morning in Tangier with a delicious breakfast in a restaurant in the neighbourhood where my cousin lives, where my cousin and his son spent the night. Around 09:00 we set off towards the east of Tangier, this dynamic city where Europe and Africa seem to meet. Leaving Tangier is always a bit difficult, given all its history and vitality. But the idea of travelling the Mediterranean coastline and exploring more peaceful places was all the more stimulating.
From time to time, we take a break and get out of the car to take in the natural beauty before us. The air is fresh, the landscape stretches as far as the eye can see, and we take a moment to admire the scenery around us. The view from here is magnificent: the mountains of southern Spain are clearly visible on the horizon. You can almost touch their peaks with your eyes. It's important to slow down and savour every moment of the journey.
After a few kilometres on the coastal road, surrounded by a landscape where the green mountains meet the infinite blue of the sea, we made our first stop at Ksar Sghir. This small village is often overlooked, yet it hides an exceptional natural setting.
I took a quick stroll through a magnificent garden, right next to a river that ends its course in the sea, and my cousin and his son wanted to stay in a small cafe to drink a Moroccan mint tea.
This place has a special charm, especially with the presence of an ancient Spanish site nearby, a relic of a time when this region was a strategic point.
After this relaxing break, we headed back to Madyek, a beautiful little town that attracts many visitors thanks to its beaches, corniche and peaceful atmosphere. Here, it's impossible to miss lunch at the port.
After enjoying our lunch of grilled fish in Madyek, we continued our journey to Tétouan. The journey took us to Sebta, that singular Spanish city that seems almost suspended between two worlds. It's a place with a distinctive character, where Europe and Africa are constantly touching, separated by a tiny border.
Every time we walk through this area, a strange sensation overwhelms us, as if we were crossing into another world in the space of a few kilometres.
However, without wasting any time, after a brief pause for a few photos, we continued on our way to Tétouan, eager to discover the next stage of our journey.
After a long journey, we finally arrived in Tetouan. This city, with its Andalusian architecture and white alleyways, exudes a unique charm, and it was time to settle down and enjoy a stroll through the old medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This road trip was an incredible experience, combining natural landscapes and simple but precious moments! Thank you for travelling with me through these lines and photos, and see you soon for a new post and a new sharing!
