Couldn't Make it to the Children's Lit Reading Session
Greetings, Everyone
After postponing the activity several times, today Yeni Gonzalez was going to have that follow-up to the reading activities we have collaborated on, and which I mentioned in this post: https://steemit.com/ulog/@hlezama/ulog-051-or-haciendole-seguimiento-a-lectura-de-libros-infantiles-a-ninos-pobres-en-cumana

Yeni has done a wonderful job with the people of that community and she managed to put together different teams to provide different services to the kids:
Combing, washing and drying of hair
Tables with used clothes to give away
Storytelling (I was supposed to take care of this part)
Poppets
and
Snacks
Yeni had told me she wanted to have more things this time, including donations of clothes for the kid of the barrio. I asked my youngest daughter to collect whatever outgrown-but-in-good-condition clothes she had and she put together a whole bag to give away.
I had selected some books to read for today, but I just could not make it. Public transportation crisis and not having cash to pay for a taxi made it impossible for me make it to the activity. Even though I left home 1 1/2 hours before the time of the event, there were few buses on the road and a lot of people fighting on the bus stops. The distance was too big for me to cover it on foot, especially these days.
I am feeling the wear. I just can't walk from one corner of town to the next like I used to do months ago. It is very frustrating to be under so many limitations to do something that is ultimately for the good of others, especially children. I will let them have the clothes somehow. I'm sure we'll also be able to schedule some other reading sessions, but tireness is kicking in like an iron wall.
Hard times demand even harder resolve. When our "best" is not good enough is time to rethink what we are doing wrong and outdo the hurdles.
I'll update the post with some images if I get them in the next days.
UPDATE:
I just got some pictures from Yeni and it was incredible to amount of clothes they were able to collect for these people (not only the kids got something, also the parents).
Unfortunatelly, the girl who was going to make a puppet show could not make it either. We are arranging another meeting for next weekend.
Thanks for your visit
