Last night we took an evening boat trip from Sultanahmet in Istanbul to one of the outlying districts, Harem. Basically from the European to Asian side of the city, across the Sea of Marmara.
We made the crossing on one of the regular city ferries, but were accompanied by a flock of seagulls most of the way !
They were flying around the ferry, but quite close at the sides as some people were feeding the, and there was hundreds of them.
It was possible to get quite close to them on the upper deck, and it was quite an amazing sight to see, especially with the views out across the sea and over the city.
These pics were all taken on my camera without zooming in !
It was lovely to see them all whizzing around the boat ! They were mainly concentrating on the left side, but would fly ahead and then whip around the other side really fast to where they were getting fed.
They were so agile, it was really quite amazing to watch.
For me, it made the trip worth it alone and was completely unexpected.
We were also treated to some pretty awesome views too !
On the trip back there were no seagulls, but we did start to catch the sunset over Istanbul which was lovely. What a great trip !
