Sometimes I forget that I’m trusting my network provider too much but guess what? I’m still not moved to stop at a shop to get another network provider even though I always pass through shops where they make adverts almost everyday. Since 2015, I started making use of MTN and ever since then, I have been more satisfied than not. I also have a 9mobile SIM card that hasn’t been working well at all. Some days the network just disappears, not even caring whether or not I might have something urgent to do with it. And interestingly, 9mobile was the first network provider I used and it’s because I got it for free. Back then it was very good! Not anymore.
After about two years, that was when I got the second network provider and things have been a lot manageable since then. Yes, there are days when MTN also choose to let me down but it is more predictable than my other network provider. The network connection is usually strong except at some locations which sometimes just requires me to switch to 3G mode. Just by switching, it starts working even though it is slow. I have only had few times when my network connection disconnects completely and at those times, it always feels like it is always at the time when I need it the most.
The most recent one I remember was when I needed to send a very important message at a time and my network completely disappeared. I was so restless because I was in class and I was sitting just opposite the lecturer. He wasn’t someone I could tell I want to go out and even if I did, the class was jammed at the back so it would be really distracting to move outside while the class was in session. I was so devastated and unable to focus for some minutes. After placing my phone on airplane mode a multiple times and changing from 3g to 4g countless times, the network finally came back and I was able to send the message.
I was so happy that I couldn’t even hide it. The people sitting around me gave me a stare that suggested that they were wondering why I was so happy out of the blue. Well, they will never know but my friends could understand because they always see me hanging around the lecture room when the lecturer is not around. Actually, the network connection at that particular lecture room is always very poor particularly for MTN users and that is the only network provider I make use of.
You might ask why I still chose not to just stop at one of those shops and just get another SIM card, well, I guess I have gotten use to the whole network shenanigan or maybe I just like the stress. MTN is definitely not the best for everyone but it has been really helpful a lot of times for me. I choose it because it has come through for me in so many ways and it also has really good data plans- affordable too.
