The track was empty when they got there and had overgrowth in most of the areas. She was rather sad to see that it was kind of neglected.
This used to be a well-kept field where they enjoyed running around when they were kids, kicking some soccer balls, and watching demonstrations or events and such. It was also where choppers dropped goods when their town was cut off from civilization due to a destructive earthquake over 3 decades ago and when some other natural disasters destroyed roads connecting them to other parts of the region.
"Whatever they did to this place..." she couldn't help but feel disappointed as she looked around. She was going into some deep thoughts when her little furball touched her legs with that 'can-I-play-Mommy' look. She had forgotten about him for a moment. How could she?
"Go on darlin', run!" she said, and off he went to his little adventure - sniffing here and there, looking around, running at times but not going too far. It's a new territory for him after all.
He would stop to quietly observe the passersby which were not many, howled at some of them, and attempted to run after the others. He was particularly fascinated by the kids on bikes.
A young girl got scared when the little guy growled at her, so she ran when she was just walking by.
"No, darling. She's a friend. Wouldn't you want to have a playmate?" she scolded him but her heart melted soon after when he gave her that apologetic look.
He went on with his walk and she was just right behind him. At some point, he got entangled amongst some crawling grass and she was just giddy watching as he fought his way out of them.
And because he was smart, it only took a little while for him to do that.
"Haah! How did I do, Mommy?"
He looked fluffed and triumphant afterward. She couldn't be more proud, of course. But she had no treat in hand. She had left them in the car and the little guy's Daddy was elsewhere in search of some good food.
"Oooff! Let me rest now!"
He was panting as he slumped his body on the ground after the wee battle. The new environment, the walk, the run, the entanglement - everything added up to his excitement and got him all pumped up.
So they rested there for some more moments, taking in as much cool air as possible, thanks to the roofed walkway that gave them some shade from the heat of the early afternoon sun.
She was still lamenting about the place deep within when the wee guy's Daddy arrived without anything in hand but good news. They were going to another ground where the fun continued and had a lil picnic too!
That story will be for another day. Lovely weekend frens, and thanks for coming along! Be merry!
