We were just going to see some historical monuments but then we went farther, a lot farther in fact, for we drove for over 3 hours, passing through towns and villages until we finally smelled the ocean breeze.
"Should we have lunch first?" the husband asked as we traversed along the highway. "Or should we just do a takeaway and eat by the sea?" The latter sounded better.
A quick turn across the road and voilĂ , the vast sea is no longer distant. It was there all along and it felt like it had been waiting for us. The waves roared as they came and went by the shore.
We ate on arriving, rested a while then it was time to take that walk. It's been over 3 years since our last visit to the sea and our feet were itching!
So off we went and aah, the sand tickles! Look at the waves! And guess what I found! Is this a seaweed?
[Forgive the blurry images, these were frames from a video.]
The shore was so stretchy that we couldn't see the end of it. It felt like we had the place all by ourselves even when there were other people - others attempting to swim and most of them at the tables under the trees picnicking.
We strolled further, stopped once in a while, and ran along the waves which at some point became aggressive and splashed water above our knees, the hems of our shorts got wet.
We played with some letters and wrote HIVE, FG, and INLEO. Pardon the messy prints, I did them with my foot while carrying our little guy, haha!
And yep, we took photos of our shadows and footprints too. It was fun, I tell you :)
Moving ahead, we found some ruins and the water rages through the spaces. There was some graffiti on its walls.
Not sure what it used to be. The husband guessed it was probably a viewpoint or something. The strong waves splash and go in and around the remaining walls.
Then it was time to move along the coast, wave foams touching the feet it felt like some free gentle massage.
The sound of the waves, the sea breeze, the sand beneath our feet, the blue skies, the vastness of the place, the space and time... The universe is so generously giving.
Amidst the roaring of the waves, the noise in the mind had been canceled or shall I say silenced and there was real peace deep within.
Then it was time to walk back to our table and there, we rested as we silently watched the sea. Our feet may be a bit weary from the long walk but our souls were filled with so much gratitude.
Even our Anyongi seemed to have felt something while there. He was quiet, observing, sensing.
Also seen there was this, they call it the Farola Lighthouse, fronting the Filmag Cafe. There seems to be some construction going on as there was a pile of gravel and sand across this space.
And if I'm not mistaken, a Statue of the Lady of Mediatrix by the entrance.
A few more shots and we went on our way to the next leg of the drive, thanking Tagudin for being hospitable and welcoming. It was worth the long drive and we hope to be back some other time and see more of the place.
After celebrating Christmas Eve with the family, we didn't have anything else to do the following day (the 25th) since my siblings had plans too with their in-laws. And so the husband and I went for a long drive where we reached different places and this stroll by the shore was one of them.
