A Little Piece of Germany in the Heart of Venezuela
Venezuela is a country made up of an enormous cultural diversity, since people from every corner of the world have found in these lands the ideal place to fully develop their most interesting dreams. It is here that any individual can feel at home, even being in foreign lands, since Venezuelans are characterized by being friendly, supportive and affectionate, which allows them to generate social relationships based on joy, companionship and love.

Un Pedacito de Alemania en el Corazón de Venezuela
Venezuela es un país conformado por una enorme diversidad cultural, ya que personas de cada rincón del mundo han encontrado en estas tierras el lugar ideal para desarrollar a plenitud los más interesantes sueños, es aquí cualquier individuo puede sentirse como en casa aun estando en tierras extranjeras, puesto que el venezolano se caracteriza por ser amigable, solidario y afectuoso, lo cual permite generar relaciones sociales basadas en la alegría, el compañerismo y el amor.
At almost 2,000 meters above sea level, on the peaks of the Cordillera de la Costa in the state of Aragua, we find a small cultural oasis that seems to have stagnated through time, it is the Colonia Tovar, a town of patrimonial character that hides a deep German roots, since its first inhabitants arrived in this area around the year 1813 and they were people coming from the Grand Duchy of Baden, so we are talking about an immigration whose historical roots are deeply marked by the banks of the Ring and the enigmatic Black Forest.
A casi 2.000 metros sobre el nivel del mar, sobre las cumbres de la Cordillera de la costa en el estado Aragua, encontramos un pequeño oasis cultural que parece haberse estancado a través del tiempo, se trata de la Colonia Tovar, un pueblo de carácter patrimonial que esconde un profundo arraigo alemán, ya que sus primeros habitantes llegaron a esta zona alrededor del año 1813 y se trataba de personas provenientes del Gran Ducado de Baden, por lo cual estamos hablando de una inmigración cuyas raíces históricas están profundamente marcadas por las riberas del Ring y la enigmática de la Selva Negra.
Colonia Tovar is built with the features of German culture, which is why its houses and public infrastructure, reflect that European style that contrasts so much with the native Venezuelan designs, thus generating a tremendously interesting space from the visual point and very different from the conceptual, which draws much attention and at the same time attracts thousands of visitors every day, looking to enjoy a beautiful and truly authentic town, which enjoys a constantly cold climate, which gives a plus to the whole area.
La Colonia Tovar está construida con los rasgos propios de la cultura alemana, es por ello que sus casas e infraestructuras públicas, reflejan ese estilo europeo que tanto contrasta con los diseños autóctonos venezolanos, generando así un espacio tremendamente interesante desde el punto visual y muy diferente desde lo conceptual, lo cual llama mucho la atención y al mismo tiempo atrae cada día a miles de visitantes, que buscan disfrutar de un pueblo bello y realmente auténtico, el cual goza con un clima constantemente frío, el cual le aporta un plus a toda esta zona.
Having had the opportunity to stay several days in this area, allowed me to know much more closely the realities of a people that goes beyond the commercial and tourist activity, since it is about thousands of families seeking to make their way through the difficulties and achieve those desires and dreams that they long for, but always maintaining and caring deeply those cultural roots that define and identify them so much.
Haber tenido la oportunidad de hospedarme varios días en esta zona, me permitió conocer mucho más de cerca las realidades de un pueblo que va más allá de la actividad comercial y turística, puesto que se trata de miles de familias que buscan abrirse paso a través de las dificultades y lograr cumplir esos deseos y sueños que tanto añoran, pero siempre manteniendo y cuidando profundamente esas raíces culturales que tanto los definen e identifican.
The church of San Martin de Tours marks the neuralgic point of this small city, around it we can find the main streets and on them the fruit and vegetable stands, first quality products and with high recognition at national level, also the public offices, some hotels and most important commerce are located in this area, which makes it a very dynamic point, where we can constantly appreciate a good flow of vehicles and people.
La iglesia de San Martín de Tours marca el punto neurálgico de esta pequeña ciudad, a su alrededor podemos encontrar las calles principales y sobre ellas los puestos de frutas y verduras, productos de primera calidad y con alto reconocimiento a nivel nacional, además las oficinas públicas, algunos hoteles y comercio más importantes se ubican en esta zona, lo cual la convierte en un punto muy dinámico, en donde constantemente podemos apreciar un buen flujo de vehículos y personas.
Having the opportunity to stay several days in the small town of Germany is a truly unforgettable experience, where we can live closely to the rhythm of an area that is in constant movement, giving us the exuberant magic of the nature that surrounds us, with exquisite architectural notes, which completely define the identity of the whole area.
Tener la oportunidad de quedarse varios días en la pequeña de Alemania es una experiencia realmente inolvidable, en donde podremos vivir de cerca al ritmo de una zona que se encuentra en constante movimiento, regalándonos la exuberante magia de la naturaleza que nos rodea, con exquisitas notas arquitectónicas, las cuales definen por completo la identidad de toda esta zona.
This was an epic and memorable trip for me, where I enjoyed the cold and the cool breeze, where I had the opportunity to walk through streets, gardens and trails, sharing closely with the kindness and realities of a people, whose main characteristics are joy and kindness. But the best of all was to have made this trip in the company of my parents, who together with me were able to live this experience to the fullest and, therefore, in perfect family unity we harvested a nice memory that will remain in our minds and hearts for the rest of our lives.
Este para mí fue un viaje épico y memorable, en donde disfruté junto al frío y la brisa fresca, en donde tuve la oportunidad de caminar entre calles, jardines y senderos, compartiendo de cerca con las bondades y realidades de un pueblo, cuyas principales características son la alegría y la bondad. Pero lo mejor de todo fue haber realizado este viaje en compañía de mis padres, quienes junto a mí pudieron vivir al máximo esta experiencia y, por lo tanto, en perfecta unidad familiar cosechamos un lindo recuerdo que quedará en nuestra mente y corazón para el resto de nuestra vida.
Colonia Tovar is a really unique place in all America, its touristic character makes that every corner of the town is full of the necessary communities to make our tour a very quiet and beautiful moment, it is for this reason that I invite you to spend a few days in the heart of these Venezuelan mountains, to discover our rich cultural diversity and at the same time have fun knowing in first person the peculiarities and beauties of this little German corner located a few kilometers from the Caribbean coast.
La Colonia Tovar es un lugar realmente único en toda América, su carácter turístico hace que cada rincón del pueblo esté lleno de las comunidades necesarias para hacer de nuestro recorrido un momento muy tranquilo y bello, es por esta razón que te invito a pasar unos días en el corazón de estas montañas venezolanas, para que descubras nuestra rica diversidad cultural y al mismo tiempo te diviertas conociendo en primera persona las peculiaridades y bellezas de este rinconcito alemán enclavado a pocos kilómetros de la costa caribeña.
