Today, I had the chance to show off my skills with computers. It was just like every normal day. I woke up, wrote something in the morning. My girlfriend called, we agreed to meet the other one at her workplace during her break. I got off the bed, had my bath, put on my clothes, and went off to meet them.
Like every other day, we greeted ourselves, talk about the guys in our lives, then, eat something.
Today was different. Right from the beginning. I didn't get an exciting phone call from Eunice. It was bad news. Dorcas has been transferred, she said. What happened? I asked over the phone. She couldn't explain. She said we should meet up and talk about it instead.
This brings me back to the previous paragraph. We didn't talk about the boys this time. We talked about her transfer. It wasn't too sad after all. We were able to encourage her that this was a good thing for her. She happily agreed and we ate.
Soon, someone joined us, and we got talking. Before I knew it, I was telling him the job I needed had to be computer or ICT related. I sincerely do not want something that takes away my time on Hive. He couldn't come up with anything. I allowed it.
A few minutes later, his phone rang. His friends called. They needed him at home. He excused us, promised to return. We let him leave while we continued (this time about the guys).
Five minutes later, he returned and pointed a finger at me. You said you knew how to work with computers? I nodded. What's up? I asked with my eyelids. He said his friends needed help installing their printer and getting it to print a document from their mail. Can you handle that? I nodded in affirmation.
He beckoned on me to follow him. I stared at my friends for their approval. They said yes. I followed him home. Found three other guys in the room. Noticed machinery around the house. Saw the computer and the Laserjet Printer. He introduced me. I greeted everyone. They explained where they had difficulty and I took over.
Fast forward to completion. We got to the end but received an error message. We tried installing twice. We experienced the same issues. We called the human they purchase the printer from, he promised to look into the setup file he gave them, including the printer cord which malfunctioned (dulling the process).
One of them suddenly remembered he couldn't access his mail from his computer. He had forgotten his password. I asked him if he added a phone number to his mail. He said yes. He explained he can access it on his phone. Of course, he could, our phones have been upgraded in a way that everything is synchronized. I told him he had nothing to worry about. We'll fix it.
I did fix it. He was pleased. He couldn't hide his happiness. He made me promise I'll be back anytime they needed my help with their computers. I agreed.
On my way, I smiled to myself. I haven't touched a system in 30 days, and this feeling was different. I haven't fixed anything for anyone in the last 30 days, I was pleased. The thing is I like fixing things that others can't especially when it has to do with computers.
Today, was quite different for all of us(my friends and I) I went back to Eunice and Dorcas, I couldn't find them. Her partner said she finally left for her new zone. Oh no! I didn't even get to say goodbye. Suddenly she called. I was happy. She gave me directions to meet up with them. I took a bike and off I went.
Upon reaching there, I met other people, they were waiting for me. We didn't plan to celebrate Dorcas' transfer. It turned out, fate had other things in mind. I witnessed fate take charge, and we had someone sponsor snacks and drinks. And we celebrated with her.
In the morning, when we heard the news, it was looming. By the end of the day, we were celebrating. This means it was fated to happen. I like everything about today, not only did I get to solve a problem, my friend got a better job position and posting. It can only be God. I am grateful for everything he has done for us.
