Lingayen may not be as popular as any other towns or cities in the Philippines, but it played a role during World War 2, leading to the defeat of Japan in the country. Its location is strategic for the American soldiers, thanks to Lingayen Gulf. It was January 9, 1945 when General Douglas Macarthur landed in Lingayen, which is usually commemorated by the province.
Lingayen has a number of parks including Maramba Boulevard Park, which was named after former Senator Daniel Maramba. In the entrance to the boulevard, there's a statue commemorative of him. In the middle of the park, there's a monument erected few years ago. It's the "Bantayog ng Wika" which pays tribute to Baybayin language, and the poem of national hero Andres Bonifacio.
Our town also has southern villages which are rural areas. It's not that easy to reach unless you have your own vehicle. Still, those villages are great places to visit because it's peaceful, and sunny.
