Happy New Year to you, , and everybody who is taking part in #MarketFriday.
I have been a bit quiet and didn't post here for two weeks, but things are getting back to normal...slowly but surely.
For today's post, I would like to share some photos of our visit to the Fig Tree Farm in Hillcrest, Durban.
On December 23, 2022, we visited the Fig Tree Farm. According to their website, "Established in 1896, Fig Tree Farm is one of the original farmsteads from when Hillcrest was founded as a stopover between Durban and Pietermaritzburg".
There are various activities, shops, and restaurants that you can visit on the Fig Tree Farm.
Let me show you around a bit...
Leaving the parking area, you can enter through a lovely little nursery. Coming out of the nursery, on our way to the restaurant area, I found this colorful scene, giving me some ideas for our own garden.
Passing through to the retail area, they have various shops catering to different markets and products in these nice little buildings, creating a lovely, local, typical African atmosphere.
On the one side, there is a lovely playing area to keep the kiddies busy and entertained...
Entering the shops, we found this interesting display of lamps.
The next shop is catering to those who have a taste for antiques. We saw some really nice items there... It might just be worth our while to return sometime later to invest in some of these items.
We found more reasons to ensure that we will return to the Fig Tree Farm.
- This shop manufactures the most beautiful shoes for little ones... The perfect gift/treat for our grandchildren...lol.
- The other shop that definitely got our attention, was this "creative art" shop. They provide lessons in making your own jewelry, candle dipping, and much more. But they also manufacture personalized "custom" jewelry on order. It didn't take long for my wife to decide that we will have to bring the two granddaughters and have something made for them...lol.
Going back to the car, this tree caught my attention.
Seeing the "bigger picture", looking back toward the entrance/exit on the main road. From the main road, you follow this sand road that you can see in the photo, to get to where all the action is.
Other Activities.
There are also other activities such as a golf driving range, a putt-putt (mini golf) course, laser-tag games, and trails.
They also have facilities for live music and other events.
In all honesty, I missed taking a photo of the entrance gate and took this photo a week later when we drove past again.
I pulled over to take this photo of their entrance to also give you an idea of what is on offer at the Fig Tree Farm.
And that's it for today, folks!
Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it.
