Satkahan is a long novel. It is difficult to express it in a few words. At least for the sake of understanding the complexities of life, I think every Bengali woman needs to read this novel at least once in the beginning of her life.
The book begins with a description of the natural beauty of North Bengal such as tea gardens, trees, Angravasa river, etc., but gradually all the stories of Deepa's life from her adolescence to the final stage of her life have been narrated. At the age of only 10, Deepa's parents forced her to pick vermilion in Deepa's seat with a very irrational decision. The day before the wedding, she found out that the people she had known as her parents were her aunt and uncle. Her mother was dead and her father had abandoned her after birth. Deepa got married. The widow is Deepa.Returning to the tea garden, she started her new life with the inspiration of Satyasadhan Master and his father Amarnath.
Life is full of ups and downs, and overcoming those ups and downs, studying, rejoining the Indian Revenue Service, choosing a life partner, starting a life and finally a void again. Deepavali is a character with a distinct character whose name implies a rebellion against darkness.
Deepa has had to make many difficult decisions at every step of her life. She had to go through some difficult times which started with the departure of her father Amarnath. Yet Deepa was steadfast in her dream. At some point in his life, she sees how terrible it is when people close to her become greedy. In the end, she was able to fulfill her dream, but in the course of time, she lost everyone one by one.
The character of Deepavali attracted me immensely after finishing the book. A life alone, without compromise, without trying to adapt to anything, got a little bit of its own, but gradually it has disappeared a lot. Because maybe it's hard to be alone. Loneliness is very frightening. Sometimes it seems that this is the reason why Deepa left Alok. The reasons were very big, they could have stayed together if they wanted to. Could have survived the pain. But I do not know exactly what is in this case! Still, every incident in the book makes me think a lot.
Although Dipa, a victim of child marriage, became a widow within 3 days of her marriage, she has established herself without following the prevailing rules and regulations of the society.Although she owned a lot of property from her father-in-law's house because of her strong self-esteem, she did not take it,In the end, love came again in her life, but after knowing the true nature of the man, she did not stay with her husband like the other ten daughters for the sake of society.
The book has truly inspired me.
I urge everyone to read the book.
