Pagadian City Boulevard is not a very famous place. It is not grand or fancy. There are no beautiful gardens, no colorful lights, and no big decorations. But for me, this place is special in its own quiet way.
The boulevard is located just behind the Pagadian City Public Market. Because of this, it is right inside the city itself. During the day, the street looks almost empty. Only a few people pass by. Some cars and motorcycles move slowly. The place feels plain and simple, like an ordinary street that people do not really notice.
But everything changes when the sun starts to go down.
In the late afternoon, the empty street slowly becomes alive. Small mobile huts and food stalls suddenly appear one by one. It feels like magic. Vendors come and park their carts along the side of the road. Cars and motorcycles start to fill the parking area. People arrive, families, friends, couples, and even those who just want to walk and relax.
The food is one of the best things here. The stalls display many kinds of shellfish. There are small shells and big shells. Some are cooked with spicy sauce and topped with chili flakes. Others are plain, simple, and fresh. The smell of the food spreads in the air and makes you hungry even if you already ate at home. I had my first Sa-ang experience right then. Sa-ang is a variety of shellfish that is larger than usual shellfish in the market and has big flesh inside. It was delicious.
Aside from shellfish, there are barbecues and street foods too. Fish balls, squid balls, and other simple snacks are easy to find. People sit on small tables beside the stalls. They eat, talk, laugh, and enjoy the moment. It feels warm and friendly, like everyone belongs there.
Right beside the huts and stalls are fishing ships and vessels. They are parked quietly, swaying gently with the sea water. Watching them move with the waves is calming. On the other side of the street, you can see tall buildings and city establishments. This makes the place feel special, nature and city life meeting in one simple space.
Pagadian City Boulevard is peaceful, even when it is busy. It is a place where you can slow down for a while. You can eat simple fresh seafood, breathe fresh air, and forget the rush of city life. It may not be beautiful in the usual way, but it has a heart.
For me, this boulevard is a reminder that special places do not need to be perfect. Sometimes, they just need people, food, and a little sunset to feel like home.
