The question is indeed an intriguing question I must say.
My answer will be on a "yes and no" setting because I seriously cannot place it in a specific way.
Growing up, I was directed to be with the brethren and being guided by a priest for me to grow spiritually.
I was little,so I have to obey to instructions. During that period of a gathering of brethren being guided by a priest, I learnt a lot. It helped me I was devoted and never missed any program held. Like,I was guided by a spiritual leader who will always remind me to be on track. That was his job, my job was to obey and not to leave the track.
But during that period I feared two things, I feared the priest and God.
It got to an extent I think I feared the priest more than God.
The priest was consistent and never stopped directing me to that path. The path I had so many questions to ask about, but the answer I will always get is "have you not be told".
Wow because I started following this teaching for a long time doesn't mean I am perfect or have no doubt or unanswered questions to clear my head.
The tiring part is when the priest will answer "you know we're humans, the ways of the Lord is wisdom".
What? are you kidding me I need this way of wisdom please.
But no, the priest seems to be lacking in some areas.
And I was just growing spiritual in an average manner, not higher or deeper because I was embedded in the ones taught nothing more nothing less.
When I grew up, I began to understand most priest saying they need more wisdom to grow more spiritual to burn for God.
Okay, so we that you are leading to Christ.
Are we to wait for you to reach the peak before we will come for you to help us grow higher too?.
Some priest will tell you to know the ways of the Lord yourself. To train yourself and grow spiritual, they will help in directing you to that path.
What? direct me to a path you don't have a clear picture of.
Some will lead you to their own confused path without accepting that they don't really know where that path is leading to.
People at times can be so pathetic, you have been show the word to read. Yes, pray for understanding and pray for God to direct your path.
But no, they only believe what the priest says, do what the priest do, and stop when the priest stops.
So, where is the wisdom God gave to all MEN?
Is there any special one given to some specific people?
I don't think so, is just that you are yet to discover yours.
I think a deep understanding is what it takes to grow spiritually.
Yes, one needs to be lead to Christ and introduced to God.
I have also heard stories of some people that just grow spiritual by themselves without anybody telling them about it.
Those people do hear the word from a priest but never for a day considered accepting it.
Some also grow spiritually with the help of a strong priest. Strong in the sense of knowing the ways of the Lord very well.
They say "many are called but few are chosen".
But we all are also children of God, so I hope and pray for a much better understanding.
