We were fragile babes with innocent smiles,
but the passage of time has flutterd by,
Moons have passed and sunsets have slept,
yesterday is today memory that lives on
the future is ticking like a heartbeat,
gently knocking just like winter dies for the summer to wake
as petals falls and allow beautiful roses to flicker
Only time can change tainted tears
into sonorous songs and fainted cheers
Make tiny seeds grows into giant trees
as the gurgles of an infant become weary eyes and grey hair
Heal wounds and leave permanent scars
only time can count the endless stars
afloat the shores of the Skies
as it camouflages into utter coldness
Only time take away teary eyes
and burdened soul
makes halves becomes solely whole.
only time can bring the joy of a beautiful harvest
make storms calms into a beautiful weather
like a tender eaglet with young feathers
yet tomorrow soaring aimlessly in the sky.
as it disappear over steepy mountains and opaque slopes
Only time will bring the uncertainty of the future
and kill the memory of the present
It will take away the sweetness of youthfulness
and bring wrinkles to the eyes
yet the beautiful ones will be born
Only time will make green leaves wither away
like a bread crumbs of yesterday
only to usher in the sweetness of death by the end of tomorrow.
POETIC NOTES & ANALYSIS
This is a poem that speaks about the effect of time on materials, both living and unliving, obviously the theme of the poem is time and the poet uses fading age of both human and plant to describe the passage of time, it talked about the innocence of a babe (baby) and also paints a picture of a dying winter that tends to herald summer, this here shows passage of time.
The verse two took another approach, the poet dealt with feelings of sadness becoming happiness and laughter or joy, obviously they use to say time can heal here the poem uses the concept of time to talk about how feelings or emotions can change when time takes effect, the third stanza took the influence on time on the human feeling as well In other to create a dazzling effect and make reference to stanza two.
Verse 4 is the ending verse and it concluded the concept of time by using time itself, it's said that time is the enemy of man and this verse proves it, it speaks about destruction of good things as a reflection of time for examples youthfulness becoming old age.
