Humiliated, Dax looked down as he held the ship’s wheel.
“Six grades above me…and he thinks he’s a deck hand…?”
“That’s right! And we’ll let him go on thinking that as long as we can before we cut his throat… and fling him overboard!” Callum whispered with an evil smile, “Right now he’s our advantage and our only insurance policy.”

The sun had just set when Petty Officer- Ship’s Corporal Ickied brought the longboat up alongside the frigate Silverton and tied her to the hoist lines. Scaling the rope ladder he quickly climbed over the starboard rail and came face to face with the Captain.
His piercing green eyes met with Ickie’s and seemed to be reading his mind before he could say a word. The Captain was the first to speak…
“Was it him?!”
Ickied looked down a moment and then back at the Captain. No matter what he said, it wasn’t going to be pretty.
“Spick up cheil! Th' night's comin' oan!" The Captain barked with impatience.
“Captain Sairrr...I believe it was heem..." Ickied began hesitantly, “by aw accoonts."
“By aw accoonts?! Blast it cheil! Did ye see heem ur nae?!"
“Ah did nae. But… others did an' gave a guid report." Ickied continued.
“A guid report?! A focking guid report?!” The Captain vented, his anger and disappointment getting the best of him, “Then whaur in heel is he?!"
Ickied paused to take a deep breath before answering…
“He's bin taken by Pirate Keptin Callum Sairrr. We waur one day tay late."
“Taken by Pirate Keptin Callum?!! Oan th' Grain Benk?!!" The Captain exploded, his eyes filled with fire.
“Aye Sairrr…”
The Captain gritted his teeth and turned to face the north-east a moment. By now all of Ickie’s crew were on deck and giving a large leeway to the scene unfolding. The Captain then whirled back around and closed the distance between them as he spoke…
“An' th' loon, Tipper? Whaur is he?!"
Ickied was growing more and more uncomfortable by the moment. He gathered his spirits and looked up at the Captain…
“Tipper is with him. They’ve both been taken…”
“By Gawd!" The Captain exploded, " ‘Att feartie-cat! Pandar an’ son 'n' heir ay a mongrel wench! Filthy, worsted-stocking knave! Lily-livered diggery! Whoreson, glass-gazin', finical rogue!!...”
The cursing went on for some time and no one dared to try and bring it to an end. Finally having vented his rage the Captain once again turned back to Ickied.
“Who ur these others who gave guid report?!"
Ickied turned towards the rail and gestured with his hand. The Captain stepped over and looked down. There the second longboat bobbed and waffled in the waves with its heavy crew of eleven…
“Way hay an' up she rises!” The Captain barked as he counted the heads, “Git yer tampy arses up oan deck an' gives me an accoont ay yoorselves!!"
