Ohayo, Konnichiwa, Konbanwa Anime Fans! It's the last month of the year 2025 and it is time again for my monthly Anime Fanart.

I started to draw this artwork around last November after I posted my last entry here because I know that it will take time to finish this and I want to post it early this time. It's also Christmas or Holiday season so it will be a busy month with all the parties and family gatherings.

For this month's character, I decided to draw a character that has a happy and joyful vibe to match the Christmas Season. And I remembered a character from the Anime: Himouto! Umaru Chan.

I started watching this last September when a friend mentioned it to me. This is one of her pick if she wanted to cosplay an anime character. I got curious on how she described this character so I decided to check it out and I find it very interesting because of how the character looks like and her personality reminds me of Anya from Spy x Family. I think she can cosplay her perfectly because both of them are cute. The story is just light and full of fun moments. It also revolves around her day-to-day life with her brother and schoolmates.

One of my favorite scene was when her brother decided to divide their room so they can have their own space and then later on they started to miss each other's company even though it was just a curtain that separates them. It was a heartwarming scene for me and you can relate when you have siblings.

I drew the non-chibi form of Umaru Chan because it's very rare that you can see her in this form with her hoodie. Also, instead of a portable Sony Playstation Vita that she use in the anime. I changed it into a Nintendo Switch 2 because if she was in this current year she'd be playing the switch.

PROCESS

Here's the rough sketch and cleaned it a bit because I want to retain the line art.

I added the base color of each part: shirt, hoodie, skin, and a very rough background.

I refined the line art here and cleaned the overlaps.

I rendered the hoodie first, adding highlight and shadows. I also removed some of the line art.

Next, I rendered the shirt and did the same process as the hoodie.

Here, I only rendered the skin and left the face part last.

I started to refine the eyes and mouth, and then colored it. After that I rendered the face and I also added a yellow color between the light and shadow of the skin.

In here, I rendered the Nintendo Switch and the Background. After rendering, there was something missing and I remembered her pets so I added the cute hamster on top of her head.

For the last part, I added some light coming from the window and refined more the line art and the colors. I also didn't like the black color of the Nintendo Switch so I changed it similar to her color palette. And that's it! Here's the Final piece fully rendered.
