Thinking back to the last time I opened Google to search for something, I honestly had to pause for a moment. These days, I don’t really use Chrome for browsing that much like I used to. It’s not that I have anything against it—it’s just that my habits have shifted. The major thing I do now with google just revolves around Hive. It's either i make use of it for peakd or even inleo.
Back then, I would usually open the browser whenever I needed to check anything—school stuff, tutorials, or even random questions that popped into my head. But that pattern has changed a lot over time. These days, if I need quick answers or explanations on something I find confusing or difficult, I don’t even think of running to Google first anymore. I go straight to ChatGPT. It's faster, straight to the point, and feels more like I’m having a real conversation. I don’t have to scroll through endless articles or blogs. I just type my question and get what I need instantly.
But if I’m being honest, the last time I used Chrome to search for something was sometime last month, and it was actually school related. We were told in school to make sure we covered up our school fees to a certain percentage. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be allowed to sit for our second semester exams. I wasn't too sure if i had paid up, so I needed to confirm my payment status on time. I went on Chrome and searched for my school portal. Immediately I saw the portal link on Google, I didn’t waste any time. I just clicked on it, logged in, and went straight to the payment section. As soon as the page loaded, I realized I still had an outstanding balance to settle before I could be eligible to sit for my exams. That moment hit me with a mix of urgency and slight panic because exams were already around the corner. So I had to look for the remaining money, and then i made the payment without wasting much time. Thankfully, everything went through smoothly, and I was eventually cleared to take my exams.
That was probably the only reason I touched Google that month. It’s funny because a few years ago, I would have used Google in school for everything—like my assignment or even to find solutions to different things. But now, with all the digital tools and AI platforms available, I just don’t find myself using Google for browsing as often.
