The forgotten horror genre.

We've had many films in the haunting or demon genres lately, but this film breaks out of the mold by creating something that long time viewers have sadly forgotten, a horror film with flesh and blood.
It's a film that plays with convention, making things confusing for the viewer, and that makes it very interesting to watch.
As for the visuals, you can see a lot of Silent Hill inspiration from the hospital to the sudden change of environment.
The film builds the atmosphere of the piece that we can expect to eventually be hit with the quintessential horror film.
There are many references, we even have a slight wink towards the audience of Saw, and many other works of James Wan.
I love movies where colors are shown in an interesting way, paying homage to Italian movies of the 80s, and here it comes out perfectly, playing with colors in the least expected places, and at the same time building such a feeling around the heroine.
Malignant is first of all a work that scares without any Jumpscarow, scenes are built in such a way that we feel fear while watching, but at the same time we want to know what will happen next.
I am very glad that I could go back for those almost 2 hours to the 90's where I could rent this movie on VHS and enjoy you while being scared at the same time.
The plot is so dizzying that it's hard to describe it without spoilers.
The young heroine experiences strange visions, where she sees a mysterious figure who communicates with her, but at the same time wants to carry out a bloody revenge, the list is long, and time is short on the trail of macabre events is detective Kekoa and detective Regina these two will follow the actions of a maniacal murderer, who will want to finish his work from 20 years ago.
The pace for such a movie is very fast, as an audience we get action-packed scenes all the time.
The scene in the house with moving around is a small visual masterpiece, as is the sudden change of location as in Silent Hill.
Despite almost 2 hours long film is not boring. It makes the viewer interested in new clues, giving some clues and then throwing them away and giving the real ones.
I will not reveal more about the plot, but it is very well sketched and the amateurs play their roles very well.

Annabelle Wallis gives an interesting performance, which is rarely seen in films nowadays.
In the film James Wan plays with a well known song to make the viewer think that the whole film follows the song, but the plot twist is so crazy that only he could afford it.
It's a tribute to all movies from the 80s/90s where we got such a unique atmosphere, even the beginning starts like a broken VHS tape, so here it's a blatant wink of an eye. As a whole the film is very consistent, the script created by Ms Akela Cooper is surprisingly good, you can see the love for old movies here while adding a lot from himself. It's a movie that may disappoint you if you're hoping for ghosts, but if you're hoping for an old-school horror movie you'll love it from the first second.
It's one of those movies that we will love or hate, I loved it because of the well plotted script and great acting
