Hey there, fellow adventures! I would like to share with you guys our hiking adventure that happened last March 14, 2026.
At that time the weather was beautiful and perfect for hiking, so our family decided to spend the day outdoors to go hiking at Ördög-árok, Hungary .
As the weather slowly changes, from winter wonderland and now into spring time. The trails come alive slowly because of the birds chirping and the nature's beauty is back into a colorful masterpiece.
For months we were into frozen land, spring time is the start of a perfect time to reconnect with our nature.
Everything in our trip turned into something special even though it was a simple trip.
It was a one hour drive going to our destination. Before that, we went to Lidl and bought bottled water and small snacks.
Inside the car, we always played music and made things more lively. The sky was clear and the weather was cool. And seeing those fresh leaves again from the trees and it feels like a reset button. Same for us too, like craving for more vibrant landscapes and sunshine.
We finally arrived at Ördög-árok, the forest welcomed us with quiet beauty. Then my husband told us the meaning of Ördög-árok in English, it means Devil's Trench. And so three of us got scared because of the work devil and we were going to the mountain.
Ördög means Devil and Árok which means Ditch or Trench.
In Hungary there are two Devil's Trench, one in Budapest is well-known to many and the second one is in Ördög-árok Dudar.
We opted for a moderately difficult hike. Hiking time, one hour in, one hour back. A perfect way to get some exercise and soak in the view.
It was an easy trail from the start. As we walked deeper into the valley, the path narrowed as nature wrapped around us with the tall trees and birds chirping as symphony.
The huge rocks, one of the most impressive sights along the trail. It was a massive rock formation, covered with green moss that made it look even more alive and stood proudly in the middle of the forest.
The ground was covered with dry leaves, as we walked it crunched softly under our shoes. We need to be careful, even if it was dry leaves it was more slippery.
A mix of massive rocks, tree roots, and earthy paths that made our hike felt like a little adventure.
We carefully step over the rock, climb uphill and easing down the other side. It was an exciting part for Aya but it is also dangerous if one misstep could lead into a fall.
We climbed onto a rock and stretched our arms wide open. And enjoying the fresh air and the quiet beauty around us.
Being with nature felt grateful and free, especially with my family. Hiking at Ördög-árok was truly special and the best adventure to start the spring season are the simplest ones.
Can't wait for more family hiking adventures.🌿🥾🌲
