Last July 13, 2023 our family went on a hiking trip. It's in Rám-szakadék and Lukács-árok in Dömös, Hungary, located in Hungary’s Pilis Mountains. We're venturing into a nature trip experience. We're so excited for the adventure, exploration of trails, climbing and for sure we will witness the breathtaking scene.
Before heading to our destination, we double check the things needed for our hiking adventure. And everything is all set and ready to go. Our journey started by traveling to the village of Dömös. It's a sunny day, clear skies and gentle breeze. Good weather for our hiking trip. We arrived at Dömös, where there is a large parking lot in front of the village hall, right next to the main road. My husband paid for the parking lot. While waiting for him, the wind rustling through the trees it's like a melody to our ears. It's a perfect day for hiking.
And as we walked, the beautiful sound of the birds chirping. It's like the song of nature. The fresh air blowing and it's so refreshing. Every step that we made, we felt a sense of peace. We're surrounded by nature, the grass, trees, rocks, hills. It's a wonderful feeling for us. This feeling gives us peace and simple joy that we are connected with nature. It's the beauty of nature that unfolded around us.
As we neared our destination, our excitement grew. Because soon we knew that we would reach the peak, the trails we needed to go and see the breathtaking view. At first it is an easy trail and surrounded by greenery and the calming sounds of nature. And Aya started to complain if we could stop. Of course we can take a rest for a bit and just enjoy the moment.
My daughter was eager to explore and keep on asking about the ladder and waterfall. And we can say that she is ready for an adventure.
Navigating Rám-szakadék:
When we entered Rám-szakadék, the landscape was stunning with steep cliffs on the side. transformed into a dramatic gorge with steep cliffs on either side. Aya saw the ladder by the waterfalls and she said mama I will go first. We can see pure joy, excitement and confidence in her. That she's ready to climb. The challenge for us starts now. I'm ok for this hiking trip but I'm more scared of my Aya. She is full of energy and as a mom I'm afraid something will happen to her on our trip. We need to climb on the ladders, hold onto chains and need to be careful because it's slippery. Aya is so excited and I'm so nervous. And my husband says everything is ok. She needs to experience a bit of adventure. Wide smiles on Aya’s face and determined steps as going up to the ladder. We made it, and a sense of achievement for our trip.
After that the challenge for my daughter is her tired legs. Yes, she's tired already but we say it's not yet over. We need to stop first and enjoy the view around us. Take some rest and have our snack. I could see the frustration when we told her that we needed to start walking. But still she insisted Mama, My legs really hurt. Legs go back home. I remind her that we cannot go back, we need to follow the trail. Just keep going and you will enjoy the view.
Exploring Lukács-árok:
Lukács-árok is known for its lush greenery, rocky cliffs, and small waterfalls, it makes our adventure more exciting. Tucked away in the Pilis Mountains, this enchanting trail offers everything from lush forests and rocky cliffs to waterfalls and wooden bridges.
We really feel instantly connected to nature. The sound of water flowing down to the rocks, stepping off the streams, we don't care if our shoes are wet. We feel alive and connected to the breathtaking beauty of nature. Plus the music to our ears, birds chirping creates harmony with our surroundings.
Finally, it's the end of our trail, going back home. And my husband says, soon we will go home. We go slowly but Aya is so excited and something happens. She fell down. She had a wound on her elbow and said to us, “I have a perfect scar.” She did not even cry, what a brave girl. It's ok, it's an accident but next time she needs to be careful.
We were enjoying our hiking trip. I realize it's not just making lifelong memories. It's not just an exercise but also a teamwork as we go for trail in our destination. Like my husband said to me, we are creating new experiences in life. And for my daughter, Aya has become more adventurous. You can always go further than what you think. Believing in yourself, especially for my daughter, that she can do it. And it's a sweet victory for her that she will never forget. Our trip gives us a lesson in life because every step that we make going on a hiking trip teaches us something important.
- Patience: It's not an easy trail for me and my daughter. It's our first trip and some trails are rocky and steep. This lesson teaches us to be more patient. Take one step at a time and enjoy the things that we have. Like we're connected with nature. Just enjoy life. Slowly but surely we will reach our destination. Just keep going.
Building Strength: Like I said, the trail is not easy. It really pushes us out of our comfort zone. In life we deal with challenges and difficulties. Overcoming obstacles on the trail gives us courage and confidence. Yes, and we made it. Sweet reward after all.
Family Teamwork: Helping each other and needs encouragement. And I'm very thankful to my husband for always being there to us. Always believing that we can make it. It will be an easier and enjoyable trail for us.
Respect for Nature: What I like when we go hiking is that people are disciplined. No trash and it's important if you have trash put in your bag. Do not throw it anywhere.
Inner Peace: Yes we need it. Connected with nature for our stressful and busy week of work. Slow down for a moment, disconnect from our mobile and appreciate the life that we have now. A simple nature trip as a family.
To all parents, take our kids for hiking. We let them struggle and succeed. Yes, they will complain that they're tired and feel the pain. But it's all ok. Encourage them and in the end they will feel confident, the victory they conquer.
This is not the end of our trail and there are more trails waiting for us. Where's next?” hmmm it depends on my husband. He is in charge of it. That ends our journey. Until next time for my next blog.
