This all happened last 19th of June, during my birthday celebration in Santorini. My last birthday was so special because I celebrated my special day on the majestic island of Santorini that my husband gave me.
Our last day together on the beautiful island before going home, we want to create more memories that will always treasure forever.
And just now, I've found the time to continue writing my blog.
We started our morning with a buffet breakfast with the stunning view overlooking the caldera, the Aegean Sea stretching before us in endless shades of blue. We really enjoyed our delicious food and a cup of coffee, with my best company-my husband that was pure moments with magic. The place is truly enchanting-Santorini.
After breakfast, we were ready to create an unforgettable experience and an adventure on foot going to the Old Port.
My husband told me that I need to wear my shoes, but still I insist I wear sandals. I thought it was an easy walk but when we went to the area and went down slowly. Honestly, I made a mistake and I should listen to him. I should wear proper shoes and it's too late to go back. I hold his hand and carefully walk slowly together.
The hike is steep and challenging, with approximately 588 steps leading to the Old Town Port and the stairs are called Karavolades Stairs.
Since the steps can be slippery because of the donkeys drop their materials (poop 💩) and its part of our touristic experience.🤣There's a donkey ride experience for 10 euros but for me it a torture to the animal. Going up and down is so tiring and much better to go for a walk and then a cable car.
While slowly walking down, we met another tourist asking my husband if it was too far is it. Then he replied, still far more steps to walk. And he added, be careful there are 💩 will welcome you. And all of us were laughing.
My husband packed bottled water and snacks and we needed to recharge and continue our adventure on foot. We sat down and enjoyed the stunning view around us.
After conquering the challenging 588 steps of Karavolades Stairs, from Fira Town to the Old Port it was a relief. As we arrived at the Port, we were greeted by some staff in the restaurant offering their delicious food, fresh fishes and crabs. But we just want to have a cup of coffee. There were also souvenirs shops, boats for rent if you want to go fishing.
We were unwinding while enjoying a refreshing cup of coffee and the beauty of the Old Port.
After that, a cable car ride goes up to Fira Town. In a 3 to 5 minute ride, we enjoyed the panoramic views of the caldera and the whitewashed in Fira’s building. Six passengers in each cable car, and of course while enjoying the view were walking with the other tourist .
When we were in the town, we bought souvenirs and then went back to our villa. Having our lunch and refueled with delicious food and having some rest.
After we went back to Fira town, we went for a short walk and to my surprise my husband prepared a birthday dinner for us. He surprised me with a reservation at the Arcobaleno Sunset Bar Restaurant overlooking the caldera's edge.
My husband chose the restaurant. It has a beautiful and majestic sunset view and delicious food that serves fresh fish and seafood. The food at Arcobaleno was a delight and cooked to perfection. My husband ordered in advance a mix of fresh fish and seafood. Finally, we shared our food together and we really savored every bite of it. It was a perfect dinner meal to end our day.
Aside from that, it truly made it more special as the perfect spot to watch the sunset. We felt like we were on top of the world, all beautiful words to describe the most visited island in Greece is everything. We love the intimate and warm atmosphere with the sunset view and enjoying each other's company. Thanks to my generous and loving husband for another moment we would cherish forever.
