In this post I want to share with you a little more of the city that has given me shelter and support in the last four years; the city of Lima. A very big city with many beautiful places to know and visit.
La mayoría de estas estructuras antiguas se encuentran ubicadas en el centro de la ciudad, en el casco histórico, para ser exactos. En varias oportunidades he tenido el placer de pasear por estas avenidas y deleitarme observando estos impresionantes edificios.
In most of my previous publications for the Architecture community, I have shared with you some relevant historical buildings in the city. Imposing structures, very large and beautiful but also with great historical significance.
Most of these old structures are located in the center of the city, in the historic district, to be exact. On several occasions I have had the pleasure of strolling along these avenues and delighting in observing these impressive buildings.
Las Torres de Cristal, como se les suele llamar, son edificios muy altos caracterizados por tener un diseño exterior con ventanales y paredes de cristal.
La mayoría de ellos son torres de oficinas comerciales de las principales empresas y compañías del país.
Entre ellas puedo nombrar: la Torre Entel, una de las empresas de telefonía nacional; la Torre Interbank, un banco prestigioso que funciona en el país; la Torre Rimac, una compañia de seguros emblemática del Perú; entre otras.
However, this time I bring you something totally different; buildings that serve to contrast the old and the modern in the same city. These are some images of a group of modern buildings that resemble each other in their structure and design. Glass Towers, as they are often called, are very tall buildings characterized by an exterior design with large windows and glass walls. Most of them are commercial office towers of the main companies and enterprises of the country.
Among them I can name: the Entel Tower, one of the national telephone companies; the Interbank Tower, a prestigious bank that operates in the country; the Rimac Tower, an emblematic insurance company in Peru; among others.
Mi lugar de residencia se encuentra en la zona norte de la ciudad, por lo que para visitar la zona sur, debo transportarme en el metro y pasar por más de 25 estaciones para poder disfrutar de toda la dinámica de esta parte de la ciuad, la cual es totalmente diferente de como funciona la zona norte.
These spectacular buildings are located in the southern area of the city, in the districts of San Borja, San Isidro, Surco and Miraflores. These districts are distinguished by having residential areas with beautiful designs, large shopping centers and a large business area.
My place of residence is in the northern part of the city, so to visit the southern part of the city, I have to take the subway and go through more than 25 stations to enjoy all the dynamics of this part of the city, which is totally different from how the northern part works.
Por supuesto, no pueden faltar los restaurantes más populares y lujosos de la ciudad, algunos conservan un estilo muy tradicional, pero también hay muchos restaurantes con diseños novedosos los cuales no solo ofrecen deliciosos platos, sino que también venden una experiencia distinta y en tendencia.
The residential apartment buildings are also very tall and with very modern designs so the rental and leasing costs are considerably higher than in any other area of the city. There are also plenty of huge private schools, some of them with old structures, but most of them are modern buildings.
Of course, you can't miss the most popular and luxurious restaurants in the city, some of them preserve a very traditional style, but there are also many restaurants with innovative designs which not only offer delicious dishes, but also sell a different and trendy experience.
Para finalizar debo confesar que aunque estos edificios son realmente hermosos y dignos de admirar, yo me quedó enamorada de los diseños y estructuras antiguas que he conocido en el centro de la ciudad. ¿Cuéntenme ustedes, cuáles estructuras son sus favoritas?, ¿las modernas o las antiguas?
