Greetings my dear and appreciated needleworkers, it is a pleasure for me to write this post to share with you a new Needlework Monday.
Although it is a little late, I did not want to let this day pass without being in touch with you.
Today I am happy and pleasantly excited by all the acceptance and receptivity that the new community contest has had. At this hour (8:45 pm, Venezuela time) we have already registered a total of 37 entries.
It is very gratifying to see how the whole community joins and attends the different contests and initiatives that are emerging. I am very proud to be part of this beautiful, creative and talented Hive community.
About the contest I must say that, thanks to all your entries I have been inspired to do different projects related to the kitchen. I really want to personalize all the spaces in my house, especially the kitchen. That is why today I wanted to share with you this new project that I have been working with love for my kitchen. It is a nice set of individual and cup holders to serve coffee. I really hope you like this project as much as I do. Again I must make it clear that this is not an entry to the contest, it is just my contribution to the activity.
I recently made a mat to place the coffee mug and cups, although I was quite satisfied with the result, I felt I needed something more delicate and colorful, for when I had visitors at home, I wanted something that would scream "CROCHET" everywhere. Grannies are the most "Crochet Style" thing I know, plus I love making projects with grannies because I can play with the combination of colors. That's how I came up with the idea of this crochet coffee set.
With the idea of the project already in mind, I set out to find the materials. The favorite material for this type of kitchen project is wicker, because of its texture and resistance. As for the colors, I decided on a combination of earth tones: brown, green and beige. This is my favorite combination at the moment, so I think that all the projects I do for the kitchen will have these three tones.
For the cup holders I made 4 granny squares of 4 rows each. To close and give firmness to the fabric, I knitted the border with one row of single crochet and one row of satin stitch in green. The size of the granny is ideal to place a medium cup of coffee, tea or any other beverage.
For the single I had to look for a pattern to make a Granny Rectangle. After locating the pattern I started knitting using the same color combination I used for the cup holders. The truth is that with these patterns you can knit quite fast and it is very entertaining and relaxing.
While I was working on this project, I was thinking about my good friend Eliana. She is a very good friend who always invites me to her house to enjoy a good coffee, while we spend hours talking about our things. Since I returned to Venezuela, she is always the one who invites me, since my house is not fully equipped. That's why I thought of making this nice set, for when I can invite her home and I'll be the one to serve our delicious coffee.
Saludos y bendciones. 🤗☕
