There is a common saying where I come from that God will not come down from heaven to help you, He would send or use people close to you. God is in heaven and He made mothers His representative on earth.
Rudyard Kipling aptly captured this understanding in his quote:
God could not be everywhere and that is why he created mothers
Though I disagree with the first part of the quote that God could not be everywhere because He is everywhere, this quote made me appreciate every mother especially mine. We don't stay in the same place as she's in a different state far away from where I reside presently. It's been more than two years since we saw each other but technology has simplified things now. No matter how far away a person is, you can connect within a second and stay in touch every minute, if you want.
I am moved to remember her love, sacrifices and support over the years. Not only for me but also for my Dad and siblings. I am the person I am today because of her influence and the positive things she taught me right from childhood.
I still remember some of her wise words to me, one of which is, "when a child is born, such a child has a responsibility to 'reborn' himself/herself". This means following our natural birth, we have a responsibility to re-shape our lives and determine the kind of person we want to be and the kind of path we want to walk in life.
Her words of wisdom touched me then as a teenager and I made up my mind to walk a good path and become a person my family could always count on and be proud of.
Mothers are the epitome of the love and goodness of God here on earth. Just as God loves all his creation, so have mothers been blessed with a heart large enough to love everyone. I have seen mothers with many children and they love them all.
It takes a special strength, courage and heart to love unconditionally and make sacrifices for them. Mothers have been blessed by God with these virtues. It is their love and commitment that holds families together, make our society better and ultimately make the world a beautiful place.
Let's love them in return and keep appreciating them. Shout out to all mothers!
My special thanks to and the Smi-le team for this lovely, thought-provoking quote and the contest. I invite
to join in this fun.
