20 Years of YouTube

So YouTube is over 20 years old now. I was there 20 years ago. That's when I started my YouTubeStars blog which has had millions of pageviews over the years.

The other day I saw a video on FaceBook from cutiemish who was in the Top 20 Most Subscribed list on YouTube 20 years ago. She was just posting to say that she has been on YouTube for nearly 20 years and she had made a YouTube video about that. So I checked it out. She talks about how things have changed over the last 20 years. Back at the start, people just went on camera and did whatever they wanted. It was mostly unscripted, just talking to the camera like they were talking to a friend sitting across from them.

Notice the low resolution. YouTube was 480 x 360 pixels then. Also Mish decides not to talk on this one. She just mimes a Pokemon song.

And here is cutiemish doing the Whatever meme, which was huge on YouTube at time. Most of the cool kids were lipsync'ing this!

Michelle is reminiscing about the good old days on YouTube. If you don't know her like I know her, then you might be surprised to hear her British accent. It's legit. She lives in the UK.

My Activity

today was just random movement to keep the blood flowing. I did get to the supermarket to get some stuff I needed, and that was where I got most of my steps. I made it to 6K which is ok but could be better. I'll do better!
