Sometimes YouTube recommends cool music videos to me. Take today for example. YouTube showed me Annabelle Chairlegs. From what I can tell, its a female singer and a few dudes. The lady singer is cute and enthusiastic. The guitars are strong and the backbeat is banging!
In this first video, the one YouTube showed me, we see the girl singer and maybe the guy drummer. She kind of reminds me of my high school girlfriend so of course I had to watch after just seeing the thumbnail! 😃👍
Concrete Trees (official MV)
Nice hair, nice outfit, nice truck. So click and listen!
Oh, you wanna know about the music?
It's fairly up tempo. You can jump up and down to it. You can dance along with the singer if you don't know what to do.
These are the kind of people I love to hang out with! Just grooving to music, dancing, being Happy!
And where is this dancing happening? At a factory, in a hotel hallway, among parked trucks. Where else would you dance?
TBH the music is a bit chaotic, I don't love it, but I like it!
What else they got?
Heavy Sleeper
So for the first 30 seconds, Miss Minger is in bed up to her chest in covers.
Then boom! Next 30 seconds is pure 60s Go Go Music! Your typical 4 chord guitar progression with Go Go Drums. Miss Singer is still in bed but now there's a windstorm happening.
Then... The next 30 seconds are sleepy. The tempo halves. Miss Singer is wearing heavy makeup and blue bubbles are bobbing.
Boom! Again we're Go Go-ing! I can dig it! Strange but I like!
AXE ME IF I CARE
It starts so slow. Just a guitar solo over a sloow minimal beat.
20 seconds or so, the song wakes up! Its kinda Go Go again. But there is a dreamy element. Kinda neo psychelic. I get a Brian Jonestown Massacre vibe, if you know that band. Miss Singer is in a white dress with some sort of knit bear mask on. Alrighty then!
What's in her hand?
An AXE! Alrighty thennn...
Next we see the band playing on monuments outdoors, with a little bit of trippy photography.
Then they're eating cake and the music is back to the slooow stuff. But it sounds better this time.
Things pick up, and Miss Singer is hitting some high notes. The guitar is fuzzing out!
Finally the AXE is used! What's being chopped?
There is Blood! 😲
And that's it!
Overall, I'll Seek Them Out
It's a bit choppy. The songs never stay in one groove for very long. But some of the grooves are, well... quite Groovy, Baby!
And You? Is this your kinda thing?
Or too far out, man?
