Today I woke up with a pretty heavy head from some drinking done last night while with friends and family.
It's one of the first nights in a while that me and my partner had a fair few drinks, and to be honest, it was well needed... although, she regretted the decision to drink this morning, as she woke with a banging headache. I, on the other hand, initially woke up feeling rough, but within 10 minutes I was actually pretty fresh.
Okay, now let's get down to brass tacks... where's my yearly badge?
I posted every single day this year, and the only thing that kept me going was,
- 1, the idea of raising my stake, which I did, and last month I flew past my 10k HP goal.
- 2, earn some experience through a strict daily dose of writing, whether fiction or otherwise.
- But, 3, and the thing that really kept me going as I got closer to the goal was the idea of getting the badge... upon looking, I don't seem to have been given it.
I'm thinking that maybe it'll take a day to process and come through, or maybe I need to post today to actually go from the 1st - the 1st - before getting it. I'm a bit confused.
Hopefully, it registers today, and I get it. Last night I checked in on Hive when I saw the HiveBuzz notification, and was sad to see I only got the weekly, and monthly badges.
Today I scrolled back to all of the posts pre-power-up day, and I got to August and saw that I have a monthly author badge on each of those ones, so I now know it must just be a little glitch of some kind.
New Years Resolutions
I touched on this last night in another post.
This year, I really want to take the time I put into Hive, and put it into some other things that I've wanted to do for a while, but just found hardly any spare time to try it out.
- 1 - Is to make some videos, using past posts written here as scripts for said videos, I'd like to do, game, film, and TV show reviews/ discussions/ breakdowns. In general, I just want to talk about some things I like and dislike.
- 2 - I want to make some models, but do so while filming myself for time lapses/ VO afterward, which I think will be really fun, and will allow me to spend more time doing them since it's been a while.
- 3 - I really want to get back into animating, and in general spend more time doing some digital art. I'm not the best artist in the world, but animation, especially 2D animation has always really interested me.
- 4 - I want to do more Bass videos, write more music, play songs, and in general practice more.
Those are the main things I want to do this year. My office is so close to looking good, and exactly how I want it to be. The background is deadly and will be interesting to look at, with some cool lighting and stuff.
Okay, on with the power-up.
I started off today with 100 Liquid Hive, which I accumulated by converting my HBD earned through posting over the last few days.
My HP sat at 11,102, so I decided to just power up by 98, in order to bring myself up to a nice round 11.2k HP.
It was only about 2 weeks ago that I made a pretty significant power-up, which brought me up to 11k, so it's mad that in such a short space of time, I've brought myself up another pretty significant amount.
I'm really happy with the growth I've seen in my account, especially this past year, and if I can continue to post regularly - although, not daily - I'll be able to maintain this growth and get to an even higher amount in this coming year.
We need more people to power up, and keep their Hive staked. Even if people were to just spend their HBD earnings, and keep their HP in their accounts, we'd breed an extremely healthy eco-system.
Currently, we have twice the number of power-downs per month, than power-ups. That's bad and will continue to get bad until we, as a community work toward the betterment of Hive as a whole.
We need to understand that as a whole, we're affected negatively by major extracting, and if it continues as it is, or gets worse, it'll be bad for all of us.
There is something great about Hive, and everything that's been built here is amazing, but it doesn't mean a lot if we see this kind of attitude continue. We don't have the numbers coming in, which isn't unusual I suppose, because it's typically hard for people to get involved with Crypto projects when in a bear market. Public opinion is negative, so trying to get people to join places like this is hard.
However, in the past month or so, public opinion has shifted since the big spikes, but those moves will be nothing compared to what's coming. Speaking of spikes though, this gets back to my previous point. Hive hasn't barely moved, and that stagnation could be due to the amount of people powering down and selling their Hive.
It's something to think about, and I don't really know how best to combat constant power-downs. Dictating to people isn't good, because it's no one else's business what someone does with their money.
Incentivising people to keep their Hive powered up might be the best solution, but how? I don't know, it's something we, as a collective, need to think about.
