Greetings!
On Wednesday of this week, my neighbor friend and I decided to go watch a football match at night in a lounge close to our house. It was a bit late, around 9:00 pm, and I didn't fancy the idea, but the match was too good to miss and my friend did a lot to convince me to go.
In the lounge, it's open to everyone to come in, but they require everyone to buy a bottle of beer while sitting and watching the match as a way of patronising the lounge.
We got there, took our seats in a corner where we could see the big screen. The environment was like a full party, with people dancing to loud music, holding either bottles of alcohol or cups of it in their hands. Some were smoking cigarettes, while others were smoking shisha. I didn't feel scared because my house was close, and in case anything happened, I knew my way. Oh yeah, the environment was not looking nice, it's all rough looking like a fight could happen soon.
We were enjoying the match when one of the waitresses approached us and asked what we would like to drink. I knew it would come to that, so I quickly ordered a bottle of Malta Guinness, but she said they had run out. My friend ordered two bottles of Heineken and didn't seem concerned about my request for a non-alcoholic drink. He hated it when I ordered soft drinks.
On the spot, I quickly sorted out an alternative with a reasonable amount of alcohol that I was sure they would have. That was 'Star Radler'. I ordered just a bottle, and within minutes, she delivered the bottles to our table with two glasses and a bottle opener. We paid (actually, it was my friend who paid), and she left us to enjoy our drinks while watching the live match.
My friend was in no rush to sip his drink; he was taking it gradually while I watched him and imagined him getting drunk after finishing the two bottles. Lol😅
As for me, I didn't take much time before finishing mine. I'm not a slow drinker; I like to gulp my drink down as quickly as possible and focus on what I'm doing. You know why? Especially in the case of football, I know that my adrenaline will get pumped, and in the process of shouting for a near goal or pretending to kick the ball, I could accidentally drop the bottle, resulting in extra payment. The cost of the bottle is always higher than the liquid itself.
It may sound awkward, but that's just who I am. I'm practically uncontrollable when it comes to football.
The match lasted about 2 hours, and during that time, my friend never finished his drink. He was slowly sipping it in consecutive minutes while we talked and watched.
It wasn't until we were about to get up and leave after the match that he gulped down the remaining drink, dropped the empty bottle on the floor, and we left for home.
It was a nice moment.
