I'm getting back into my 3D design goove. Now that my hand is 4 months into recovering from 3rd degree burns, I can do a lot more things. It's still pretty fucked but I can at least type properly and I have about 95% range of motion on my right hand now.
The Design
Quite a few months ago, I designed a custom stand for my 510 threaded shitty vape battery. I don't really use it very often anymore as I've been using these disposable vapes lately. Before you attach me for being wasteful, if I could get the same oil in a non-disposable format, I would. I have been a big advocated of thc vape cartridges, and these are by far my favorite at the moment. The Flying Monkey Heavy Hitter blends. I wish I could just get the cartridges instead of the whole disposable but I can't at the moment. I plan to bulk order my own oil and make my own cartridge but this is just the easiest way for me at the moment in an illegal cannabis state. These things are small and do not stand up very well. I like to keep my vape standing to get smoother hits so I made a new stand.
I started by making a 40 X 40 mm square in Fusion360. Then I created an offset construction plane 15 mm above that one. Then I created a rectangle to the measurements of this particular vape - 19mm x 9mm. Once I had the slot recatngle hovering over, I used the Loft command to create a bridge and make the pyramid shape. Then all I did was Extrude the slut -13 mm to create a lot for the vape to sit in.
After creating the slot, I used the Fillet command to add some rounded edges to the slot that the vape will sit in. Then I decided it was basically done. Except for the pot leaves of course. Had to add those. These are SVG that I inserted on the angled planes. Extruded 1mm.
Send that bad boy off to the printer with 3% infill because it doesn't need to have much weight or sturdiness. It can essentially be hollow. Of course I have a timelapse of the print. Check it out below!
The first print worked! The vape fits like a glove. Also this Mimosa vape is fantastic. Highly recommend.
I've made a couple ore tiny modifications to the stand just for aesthetics. Maybe it will be a more snug fit as well. I haven't printed it just yet. I want to add the LeoFinance logo to it. For this one, I went back and edited the sketch for the slot. I added Fillet to the corners to create the rounded slot.
