In Carabobo, Venezuela, there are natural environments for all tastes (except for snow, which is found in another region called Mérida). However, there is a town in Carabobo with a somewhat similar climate, and it's called Montalbán.

There is a mountain there called El Peñón, which I climbed with a group of hikers who were excited to see it.

I had already climbed it years ago when I was a university student.

I remember going with a classmate and some neighbors from my community. It was interestingly uncomfortable to see the contrast in tastes, and there were even some clashes, but well, I won't talk about that today haha, I just mention it because I vaguely remembered it while writing this post.

The point is that I had already climbed the mountain, but I've always liked giving it another chance, and El Peñón is worth it.

This time, I climbed with more experience and better physical condition.

This route doesn't require high performance, but when you're up-to-date with physical training, it doesn't require much effort.

Compared to the other time, I liked this one much more because it allowed me to enjoy the landscape without the discomfort of fatigue, which, mind you, is normal on any route.

But in this specific case, I allowed myself to enjoy it from that perspective because when I climbed it the first time, I wasn't in good physical shape.

As you climb, the vegetation changes. And the higher you go, you feel like you're in the Andean páramo, although there's not really a close resemblance, it's just how I see it haha.

On this hill, there is a well called La Neverita, which lives up to its name because the water is COLD. It's not deep, nor shallow, it's perfect for someone with an average height.

The first time I went, I saw the skull of a poor cow that had fallen and died.

When I passed by this time, I remembered, but there was nothing left. What could have happened to that creature? How could a cow be so high up? Well, unanswered questions that don't leave me at ease when climbing the mountain.

I couldn't take pictures because I was wet and didn't want to damage my phone.

Near that well, there is a house with a plantation.

And further down is El Peñón, which is a large rock visible from the streets of Montalbán, and from up there, Montalbán looks small.

At night, you can hear the monkeys and see the fireflies.

And of course, the stars. I remember we spent the night watching them and talking about life in general.

By dawn, you can see how the fog covers the town. In fact, we woke up at that hour to appreciate the beautiful view with a cup of coffee in hand.

With that view, you're welcomed to contemplation and introspection.

And the weather, incredible.

On that occasion, I only climbed the mountain, but next time I want to take pictures in the town.

I didn't do it because I didn't bring my camera, and the group I was with wanted to leave early.

For a future post, I will talk explicitly about Montalbán.

En Carabobo hay entornos naturales para todos los gustos (excepto la nieve, que se encuentra en otra región llamada Mérida). Sin embargo, hay un pueblo carabobeño que tiene un clima un tanto similar, y se llama Montalbán.

Allí hay una montaña llamada El Peñón, que subí junto a un grupo de senderistas que estaban emocionados por conocerla.

Yo ya había subido hace años, cuando era estudiante universitario.

Recuerdo que fui junto a un compañero de clases y unos vecinos de mi comunidad. Fue interesantemente incómodo ver el contraste entre gustos, e incluso hubo roces, pero bueno, de eso no hablaré hoy jaja, solo lo comento porque lo recordé vagamente mientras escribo esta publicación.

El punto es que ya había subido la montaña, pero siempre me ha gustado darle otra oportunidad, y El Peñón lo vale.

En esta ocasión subí con más experiencia y en mejor condición física.

Esta ruta no requiere de alto rendimiento, pero cuando estás al día con el entrenamiento físico, no requiere tanto esfuerzo.

En comparación con la otra vez, esta me gustó mucho más porque me permitió disfrutar del paisaje sin la incomodidad del cansancio, que ojo, es normal en cualquier ruta.

Pero en este caso tan específico, me permití disfrutarlo desde esa perspectiva porque cuando la subí la primera vez, no estaba en condición física.

A medida que subes, el entorno va cambiando de vegetación. Y mientras más arriba estás, sientes que estás en el páramo andino, aunque realmente no hay un parecido cercano, es solamente como lo veo jaja.

En este cerro hay un pozo que llaman La Neverita, que le hace honor a su nombre, porque el agua es HELADA. No es profunda, tampoco baja, es perfecta para alguien con una estatura promedio.

Durante la primera vez que fui, vi la calavera de una pobre vaca que había caído y muerto.

Cuando volví a pasar esta vez, me acordé, pero ya no queda nada. ¿Qué habrá pasado con esa criatura? ¿Cómo una vaca puede estar tan arriba? Bueno, preguntas sin respuestas que no me dejan tranquilo cuando estoy subiendo la montaña.

No pude tomar fotos porque estaba mojado y no quería dañar el teléfono.

Cerca de ese pozo hay una casa con un sembradío.

Y más abajo está El Peñón, que es una roca grande que se ve desde las calles de Montalbán, y desde allá arriba, Montalbán se ve pequeño.

En la noche se escuchan los monos y se ven las luciérnagas.

Y por supuesto, las estrellas. Recuerdo que pasamos la noche viéndolas, y hablando sobre la vida en general.

Ya en la madrugada se ve cómo la neblina arropa el pueblo. De hecho, despertamos a esa hora para apreciar la bella vista con una taza de café en mano.

Con esa vista, tienes una bienvenida a la contemplación e introspección.

Y el clima, increíble.

En esa ocasión solo subí a la montaña, pero en otra ocasión quiero hacer fotos en el pueblo.

No lo hice porque no llevé mi cámara, además el grupo con el que andaba quería irse temprano.
