A Light for Hope
It's a great pleasure to greet you in this New Year, beautiful DIY Hub community, hoping it's filled with health and blessings. Following the theme of the last contest of the year and the beginning of 2026, I bring you a beautiful candle, so that its light may illuminate us and bring us much prosperity and love.

Una Luz Para La Esperanza
Un inmenso placer de saludarle en este Nuevo Año, hermosa comunidad de Diyhub, esperando que esté cargado de mucha salud y bendiciones. Siguiendo con la temática del último concurso del año y el comienzo del nuevo año 2026, les traigo una hermosa vela, para que su luz nos ilumine y nos traiga mucha prosperidad y amor.
At home we always light a blue candle for the New Year, but a few days before we were supposed to light it, it fell out of a cupboard and broke. I was very upset because I had to buy another one for that special moment, but then I remembered I could fix it.
En casa siempre encendemos una vela azul para la venida del año nuevo, pero faltando unos días para encenderla, resulta que se me cayó de un armario y se rompió. Me lamenté mucho porque debía comprar otra, para ese momento especial, pero luego recordé que la podía reparar.
So, putting my past experiences to use, I decided to gather the pieces scattered on the floor and make a new candle in a different shape, applying a technique I learned as a young girl. Here's my tutorial.
Así que, poniendo en práctica mis aprendizajes del pasado, decidí recoger los trozos esparcidos por el piso y hacer una nueva vela con otra forma, aplicando una técnica que aprendí cuando muchacha. Para ello les dejo mi tutorial.
Materials:
The items we'll use are: broken candles, wicks, orange, tangerine, or lemon peels, a cardboard container (like a milk or juice carton with paraffin inside), ice, and a small pot.
Materiales:
Los objetos que vamos a utilizar son: velas rotas, pabilo, cáscara de naranja, mandarina o limón. Un envase de cartón, puede ser de leche o jugo (esos que tienen como parafina dentro del envase), hielo y una olla pequeña.
Preparation:
1) Cut the peel into small pieces. Place the candle segments in a pot; if you have remnants of another candle, add them as well.
Elaboración:
1) Cortar la cáscara en trozos pequeños. En una olla colocamos los segmentos de la vela; si tenemos restos de otra vela, la vertemos también
2) We put it on the fire and wait for the sperm to melt.
2) Llevamos al fuego y esperamos que la esperma se derrita.
3) Meanwhile, we place the wick inside the container, pieces of ice and spread the peel; finally, we pour in the liquid.
3) Mientras, colocamos el pabilo dentro del envase, trozos de hielo y esparcimos la cáscara; finalmente, vertemos el líquido.
4) When the paraffin solidifies and cools, we take the figure out of the container.
4) Cuando la parafina se solidifique y enfríe, sacamos la figura del envase.
We dry it thoroughly and then decorate it. Ready to make our wishes.
