How to Make Beautiful Flannel
It is a pleasure for me to greet you, dear friends of DIYHub, I have as an initiative to show you how I made a beautiful men's flannel. I was passing by a fabric store these days, and I always go there to see if I can get scraps. This time I was lucky, I got two pieces that were about sixty-five centimeters long and wide enough to make a garment, I did not hesitate to buy them because they probably had details and that is why they sell them as pieces, I was sure that I could get a flannel from those cuts and I wanted to make them for my son, since I loved the design.

Cómo Elaborar Bella Franela
Un placer para mí saludarlos, queridos amigos de DIYHub, tengo como iniciativa mostrarle cómo realicé una hermosa franela de hombre. Pasaba en estos días por una tienda de telas, y siempre me acerco para ver si consigo retazos. Esta vez tuve suerte conseguí dos retazos que median aproximadamente como sesenta y cinco centímetros de largo y tenían de ancho lo suficiente como para hacer una prenda de vestir, no vacilé en comprarla porque probablemente tenían detalles y por esa razón es que la venden como retazos, yo estaba segura, que podía sacar una franela de esos cortes y quería confeccionarlas para mi hijo, ya que el diseño me encantó.
When I got home, the first thing I did was to measure the fabric, with the body of my son, and indeed, I can get two flannels. I confess, I am not a great seamstress, but I put all my effort to do it well. To start this project, it is very simple, we only need concentration and the materials.
Cuando llegué a casa, lo primero que hice fue medir la tela, con el cuerpo de mi hijo, y efectivamente, puedo sacarle dos franelas. Les confieso, no soy una gran costurera, pero pongo todo mi empeño, para hacerlo bien. Para comenzar este proyecto, es muy sencillo, solo necesitamos concentración y los materiales.
Materials:
- Fabric scraps
- Pattern (a used flannel)
- Nylon thread and current thread.
- Scissors
- Pencil, centimeter.

How to Make a Gentleman's Flannel
Cómo Elaborar Una Franela Para Caballero
First step: we place the fabric on the thread and fold it approximately to the width of the pattern. To do this, we fold the flannel on the front side, put it on top of the fabric well stretched. Then, we mark with the pencil all the contour leaving a centimeter of seam and cut. Do the same with the back. See images.
Primer paso: colocamos la tela al hilo y doblamos aproximadamente hasta el ancho del patrón. Para ello, doblamos la franela por la parte de adelante, la ponemos encima de la tela bien estirada. Seguidamente, marcamos con el lápiz todo el contorno dejando un centímetro de costura y cortamos. Hacemos lo mismo con la parte de la espalda. Ver imágenes.
Second step: now we continue with the sleeves, we place the double fabric, we do the same procedure, we place the pattern on top of the fabric, we draw, we leave a centimeter of seam and we cut. See images.
Segundo paso: ahora seguimos con las mangas, colocamos la tela doble, hacemos el mismo procedimiento, colocamos el patrón encima de la tela, dibujamos, dejamos un centímetro de costura y cortamos. Ver imágenes.
Third step: Now we place the front with the back on the right side and sew the shoulders, then we sew the sleeves and, finally, we close the sides. See images.
Tercer paso: Ahora colocamos el frente con la espalda por el lado derecho y pasamos costura a los hombros y, seguidamente, cosemos las mangas y, por último, cerramos los costados. Ver imágenes.
Fourth step: we finish off the sleeves, making a hem and sew the seam. In the same way we make the hem, we do it with both flannels. See images.
Cuarto paso: rematamos las mangas, haciendo un dobladillo y pasamos costura. De la misma manera hacemos el ruedo, lo hacemos con ambas franelas. Ver imágenes.
Neck Mounting Procedure
Procedimiento Para Montar El Cuello
We measure the contour of the neck, we remove three centimeters. Example. The green flannel, the contour of the neck is 48 cm. The fabric that we are going to cut for the neck should measure 45 in length and five in width. See images.
Medimos el contorno del cuello, le quitamos tres centímetros. Ejemplo. La franela verde, el contorno del cuello es 48 cm. Le quitamos tres y queda en 45. La tela que vamos a cortar para el cuello debe medir 45 de largo y cinco de ancho. Ver imágenes.
To assemble the collar we need a piece of fabric called rib, special for collars and cuffs. We take the piece of fabric and join its sides, then fold it. See pictures.
Para montar el cuello necesitamos un retazo de tela que se llama rib, especial para cuellos y puños. Tomamos el retazo, y unimos sus costados, luego la doblamos. Ver imágenes.
Now we sew it to the collar of the flannel by stitching and stretching it a little, if necessary. To differentiate one flannel I mounted the collar and finished the sleeves and hemmed the hem. On the other one I added the collar and finished the sleeves with rib.
Ahora la cosemos al cuello de la franela pasándole costura y estirando algo, un poco, si es necesario. Para diferenciar a una franela le monté el cuello y rematé sus mangas y el ruedo con dobladillo. A la otra le coloqué cuello y terminé colocándole rib, a las mangas.
Finally, the finish is complete when we finish off all the remaining threads. On this occasion I also present a small scale flannel, with the scraps that I had left over.
Finalmente, el acabado es completo cuando rematamos todos los hilos, que le quedan. En esta ocasión también les presento una franela en escala pequeña, con los retazos que me fueron quedando.
