Good places deserve second visits, and that was certainly the case with Villa General Belgrano in Córdoba. My dad had been so charmed by it that we decided to return to this town once more, even before we knew there would be a celebration that weekend. Since we were nearby and getting there by bus wasn't too expensive, we decided to repeat the trip to gather more new experiences. Luckily, we had a great time, and we ate plenty of free chocolate along the way 😃.
Los buenos lugares merecen segundas visitas y ese fue el caso para Villa General Belgrano, en Córdoba. Mi papá había quedado tan encantado que decidimos volver a esta ciudad una vez más, incluso antes de saber que se llevaría a cabo un festejo el fin de semana. Como estabamos cerca y llegar en bus no nos costaba tanto, decidimos repetir el paseo para recolectar nuevas experiencias. Por suerte nos fue bien, y comimos mucho chocolate gratis en el camino 😃.
This year, my dad had his vacation in April, and it just so happened to coincide with Easter weekend. I hadn't considered that there might be celebrations, but it was good for us to see a bit more activity on the streets. I like quiet places without so many people, but my dad likes seeing crowds because he says "there's more life there." So, deciding to go back to Villa General Belgrano for Easter weekend was exactly what he wanted.
Este año, mi papá tuvo sus vacaciones en Abril, y estas justo coincidieron con el fin de semana de Pascuas. Yo no había tenido en cuenta de que podrían haber celebraciones por esto, pero eso nos vino bien para ver un poco más de movimiento en las calles. A mi me gustan los lugares tranquilos sin tanta gente, pero a mi papá le gusta ver aglomeraciones porque dice que "hay más vida ahí". Entonces, haber decidido volver a Villa General Belgrano para el fin de semana de Pascuas tuvo justo lo que el quería.
The city was celebrating its Chocolate Festival for Easter, so there was a huge party going on at the town hall. Parades, contests, and live chocolate-making demonstrations were just some of what we saw after our afternoon of trekking, but without a doubt, the best part was all the chocolate. There were tons of stands selling chocolate of every kind and price: I was able to buy a chocolate-covered fruit skewer for $4. What do you think of that price?
En la ciudad se estaba llevando a cabo la Fiesta del Chocolate por las celebraciones de Pascuas, por lo que en el edificio de la municipalidad había una gran fiesta. Desfiles, concursos y recetas en vivo fue un poco de todo lo que vimos después de nuestra tarde de trekking, pero sin dudas la mejor parte era todo el chocolate que había. Muchos stands vendiendo chocolate de todas clases y de todos precios: yo por $4 pude comprarme una brochete de fruta bañada. ¿Qué opinan de este precio?
I wasn't interested in spending too much at the fair either, because at the entrance to the festival we'd been told there would be free chocolate for everyone. As part of the celebration, several chocolatiers from the city had teamed up to make a 60 kg chocolate egg, which they would break and share with everyone. The moment they broke this egg was the highlight of the festival; we were all eager to try some ❤️.
Tampoco me interesaba gastar demasiado en la feria porque en la entrada de la fiesta nos habían dicho que habría chocolate gratis para todos. Como parte de la celebración, varios chocolateros de la ciudad se habían unido para hacer un huevo de 60 kg de chocolate, que romperían y compartirían con todos. El momento de romper este huevo fue la parte cúlmine de la fiesta, todos estábamos expectantes de probar un poco ❤️.
Although getting a piece was quite an ordeal because of all the people, when my dad and I finally got outside we found they were giving away even more chocolate eggs. We ate so much chocolate that day that we practically ate it; I think it had been ages since I'd eaten so much chocolate because I love it so much. The night was beautiful, and we were so glad we'd taken this evening stroll and seen the city a little more lively.
Aunque conseguir un trozo fue una odisea por toda la gente que había, cuando mi papá y yo salimos afuera nos encontramos con que estaban regalando más huevos de chocolate. Ese día nos cansamos de comer esto, creo que hacía bastante que no comía tanto chocolate por lo mucho que me encanta. La noche estaba hermosa y nos alegramos de haber hecho este paseo nocturno y ver la ciudad un poco más movida.
Villa General Belgrano is a typical town in the province of Córdoba, and one you shouldn't miss when visiting this region. With its German architecture and tradition of selling beer, it always entices you for a pleasant stroll. Seeing the town during this chocolate festival was also a fun experience for my dad and me. The struggle to get a piece of chocolate egg was hilarious: my dad was very determined to bring me some. Just another anecdote for our travel journal this year 😃.
Villa General Belgrano es una ciudad tipica de la provincia de Córdoba y que no podés perderte en tu paso por esta región. Con su arquitectura alemana y su tradición de vender cerveza, siempre te atrae para un buen paseo. Ver la ciudad en este contexto de fiesta del chocolate también fue algo divertido para mi papá y para mí. La lucha por conseguir un trozo de huevo de chocolate fue algo muy gracioso: mi papá estaba muy comprometido con la idea de traerme un poco. Una anécdota más para nuestro diario de viajes de este año 😃.
