Buckle up for another exciting life update with Leaky20...
Okay this probably won't actaully be that exciting but you can follow along nonetheless and see what I've been up to the past few days - or weeks.
Pumpkin Carving
First off, Halloween came and went - as you know. Some people really take their festive decorations seriously here in Canada. We saw this gem on one of our evening walks with the dog.
Take note of the size of that skeleton! It must be 12-15 feet tall. The smaller one that it's holding upside down is a life size human skeleton and the larger one makes it look tiny in comparison.
I wonder where people store decorations like that? Their garages must be filled to the brim.
We don't put up any decorations for Halloween except maybe a Jack-o-lantern, or two if we are feeling particularly festive...
Just one pumpkin this year.
We equipped ourselves with a cheap Pumpkin carving kit from the Dollar Store and went to town on this thing.
As per usual, I tried to get out of being the designated carver this year (I hate the feeling of cold and sticky hands and wrists).
But after the job fell on me, I ended up having a great time trying to be creative.
"Imma make this Pumpkin look so good! Everyone will be so impressed."
I spent about an hour on the thing trying to make it super cool looking. I don't know if I succeeded in that.
It turned out a little different than I was expecting but I was satified with it in the end.
They always look a lot different in the dark with the light of the candle shining through.
We're Hoarders Now
After two months of waiting, our remaining furniture and clothes and stuff finally arrived from France.
Our house was an absolute disaster for a few days while we tried to organize everything. We brought back way too much shit for our house to handle it seems. A lot of stuff wasn't necessary for us to bring home, but we had forgotten what we had in storage from before the move and/or we didn't know how to get rid of stuff in France and figured that it would be easier to sell or donate it in our home country.
We made multiple trips to Goodwill to donate some of it and then spent a few days finding places to store the rest of it in our house. The house is almost entirely cleaned up now and back to the way its supposed to be.
First Snow
Today I woke up to a light dusting of snow on the ground. This fall has been unseasonably warm this year but after several weeks of 20°C weather the temperature dropped significantly and now we are getting snow. November is too early. We don't usually get any snow until late December or even January, so the sporadic weather really makes me wonder how our first Canadian winter is going to go. It's 1°C now and the snow has already melted but that's basically colder than most of the winters that we experienced in France. I don't know how my body is going to react when temperatures get down to negative 15°C and below?
